Dam great sales for such a legendary franchise :) confident it's lifetime sales will top 10million.

GT5 is still tracking better than GT4 (11.38m). It's in the way to top 10 million. |
The Wii was tracking way better than the PS2, we all saw how that went. The past is often an indication but rarely a confirmation of the future. There's also the whole "shipped vs sold" issue at hand here.
The Americas and Japan sales are just not good enough, Europe alone cannot move 7 million units that it will probably take to reach 10 million. I say its still out of the question. Of course, only time will tell and I sure wouldn't mind 10 million, seeing as how the GT franchise is easily my favourite racing series and even in my top 5 of all time franchises!

Disappointed? No. That's just sad because I will loose a bet...
The 7.3m shipped is not bad... is better than most people here predicted.
For me it's on track to top 10 million... six months after I predicted.
Uh...
Can't we have a thread about GT5 sales without turning it into a personal attack against ethomaz and his predictions ?
these numbers are impressive , the game is on its way to pass 10M mark, should settle between 10,5 and 11M LT
Finally, they posted the numbers.Adjustments are in order .

6 months after, by March 2013??? lol. I suggest you crunch some numbers... GT4 September 2007 to Dec 2010 : sold 1.6m (3.5 years for 1.6m) GT5 September 2011 to March 2013: needs 2.7m to get to 10m (1.5 years for 2.7m) So it needs to sell double GT4 in half the time... Good Luck. |
the difference was PS3 was already released in 2007.
PS4 wont be out until end of 2013, at the earliest. 2014 is looking more and more probable

So GT 5 is doing rather well, and it could creep to 10m, just, which would be very impressive
I think it will keep going for some time, as I would be very surprised if they released GT 6 on PS3, the next GT is likely to be on Vita before 6 on PS4, and the lack of any sequel should help its sales
You know... they advertised GT5 more this Holiday then for example Uncharted 3.. I opened the newspaper today and there as an ad for the platinum version.. crazy
Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)
