why so sensitive?

XBL is superior to PSN in almost every aspect, I am so tired to argue about it. Yeah, I used both, Yeah I played on steam and battle.net, Heck I even played SegaNet. XBL is by far the best overall service. And the way MS is pushing these apps and using the Xbox 360 as a media center for the living room is unmatched. I don't know why Sony does not something similar. As I said, there is huge potential in PS3 , PS Vita, Vaio, Cellphones, Smart TVs etc. They just need to use it in a better way.

You know, earning achievements on Windows phone 7, cloud storage, Chat with Kinect with somebody on a PC using Windows Live Messenger, call someone from the Xbox 360 using skype, watch Zune movies on the PC, Xbox or the phone, share your photos on all 3 screens is easily possible and happening every day. The UI is soooo easy to use and Kinect makes it even easier. Sony is far behind in all these categories. This is no trolling, this is basically a fact.

Chocoloco, if you read this I just have to say that I pretty much agree with what DirtyP is saying.

If you list all the features of XBL and PSN side by side than it looks like a toss up, in fact PSN may actually come ahead due to the the free factor. But when you actually see both experiences side to side then many would most likely agree that XBL would win simply because of the incredible user interface and how everything ties together so perfectly and so effortlessly. Now for a hardcore gamer/tech guy the PS3's interface and not so friendly UI isn't a problem and if you like the Sony exclusives the PS3 is obviously the way to go. But for the general public and people who like the simplicity of the 360, that's the way to go. Even with the $60 a year charge.

I'll give an example: My Aunt wanted a console to play Netflix maybe play a few motion games (wii/move/kinect) but she also wanted a blu-ray player. So I let her know that for her the PS3 player would be probably the best choice for her being it had blu-ray, free online and some Wii like games but in HD. And she was all fine with that until you saw the UI for the PS3 (she had already seen the one the 360). I even told her that if she got a 360 that wouldn't have blu-ray and if she wanted to watch Netflix on it that she would have to pay $60 a year. But she said $60 a year wasn't a big deal at all and that she liked the UI on the 360 much better so that is what she wanted. So basically she was willing to end up paying more to have a 360 and a seperate blu-ray player just because the UI on the 360 was that much better looking/easier to use.

Sony really isn't tapping into their potential very well at all and they need to fire the current decision makers and get people who know how to run a business in the Black whilst also appealing to customers because currently that is not happening (the running a business in the black).

Howard Stringer needs to be removed. Same thing with Jack Tretton. Kaz Hirai is brilliant and he promoted Andrew House to the top spot of the PlayStation division and House is cleaning house.

I'm glad that House (what an awesome name ) is doing work. Now they just need to clean house in all their other sections of the company as well.

You are clearly trolling. No one should be glad if one of the companies suffer, and if you are, you shouldn't express it in public.

Coincidentally, in a thread somewhere yesterday I was having a go at House as someone who isnt very convincing.  Kaz.... well... I think he is a disaster waiting to happen, he is more of a sony fan than a business leader, I think thats dangerous.

Kaz I think will make the best decisions for the company. Who I wanted to take over got screwed out of the position and that man was Ken Kutaragi. He didn't play favoritism. If he saw a problem, he took care of it before it got out of hand. If the higher ups wouldn't listen to him, he went public with it.

He was forced out for speaking his mind and now look at Sony.

Hope they can get their shit together before the next generation rolls over, I really like some of their products and would hate to see major cuts being made in their Hi-fi or gaming divisions!

Well to respond in as civil way as I can muster...it gives Sony a wake up call.

For years Sony has focused on market share gains while its bottom line suffers. For 4 years in a row, Sony is set to loose $5 billion in total.

Even in the gaming division, Sony continues to buy studios, slash PS3 prices.....a direct contradiction to Sony's current financial state.

With the high yen equaling to even lower profits from NA and Europe sales, combined with higher interest with this news, perhaps it will tell Sony to stop reckless spending, price cuts, and buyouts and actually focus on making a profit for a change.

It isn't inconceivable that the Sony investers will cry uncle on any plans to replace the PS3 with a PS4 if they don't turn the ship around. By investors I also mean people whom Sony owes money to. Any indication that the PSV is doing worse than the PSP might be the nail in the coffin for the PS4 as the PS3 is their highest profile failure to date.

Tease.

Sony will push through with more PlayStation hardware whether investors are with them or not. Sony isn't a company that bends at what the investors say. That has been proven all throughout their history.

PlayStation never would have happened it Ken Kutaragi gave up when the investors said no. WorldWide Studios never would have happened, because the investors said no. Kaz replacing Howard Stringer is a sign that the people within Sony are showing they are smart and they a pulling a leader from the gaming division to head up the entire company.

PlayStation and Sony gaming as a whole will continue.

I think they are going to be giving up their TV division before the gaming division. Time to concentrate on their DSLR business - which is actually doing pretty well. They also make sensors for Nikon and Pentax for their DSLRs as well.

They do need to use as much of the R&D for the PS3 for the PS4.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
