Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft is investing in their first party studios like never before.

On one hand it looks OK, it might look even better 4 them it ey go with kinect only direction which i doubt, BUT.
Just look at them, 343 needs to prove themself, lionhead is kinda lost ey dont know what to do with fable( third one was less than mediocre for me), turn 10 is good( but how much since ey lose the touch with forza, sequel after sequel, just give them chance to make something else). Some are producing junk, some are working on kinect, some needs to release first games.... will ey keep gears only on xbox? Will remedy be able to produce quality games in less time, or will ey stay exclusive? Too much questions hard to answer.

Ey need better management of their studios thats 4 sure. And more of them wouldnt hurt either.
I see not so bright future it some of things come true. Ey wont have price advantage over next PS almost certain( judging by sony pr, vita pricing, ey ll have to put in box new disc format...) and if ey dont launch earlier say goodbay to third party exclusives unless ey pay hard or try hard. Some say exclusives dont matter, than why did they tried so hard to bring ff, tekken, mgs, gta to 360? Thats right.

They should not get arrogant like sony did, if ey want to be successful next gen, or ey ll get stomped.

Microsoft has by far the worst first and second party studio among the 3 manufacturer.

They don't care about developping games. They closed their best studio, Ensemble Studio without any reason. They turned Rare into a joke.

It will take a very long time until they are taken seriously as a developper.

Nonsense, Halo a lone puts them over Sony in my book.

They closed down Ensemble because they didn't need them. Ensemble's best days were behind them. If MS feels the need to put out more strategy games I'm sure Robot Entertainment would be glad to help.

Rare has played a pretty big roll in the 360 appealing to casual audiences. Something PS3 has been struggling to do. So I'd hardly say Rare is a joke.

It only takes one great game to be taken as a serious develeloper.

Rare is a joke. They went from an universally acclaimed  developper on Suoer Nintendo and Nintendo 64 to a very average developper to xobox, to a bad developper to Xbox 360.Now they are done. They are doing some Wii sport copies that any studio could do. They are dead.

Halo is a big franchise, but Bungie is not even with Microsoft anymore. And the diversity of Sony developpers annilates Microsoft.

Ensemble Studio was better than any studio Microsoft still has. The way they threated them was digusting. They forced them to make a dumbed down RTS for 8 years olds kids (Halo wars) then they closed them eventough it outsold pretty much all of the Rare shovelwares titles.

This late into generation, it really doesn't matter what the first party studios do. With the 3rd party support catering to practically every audience, I don't think people are as fussed about as exclusives as the posters on this forum make it out to be. There are very few exclusives that truly "move" consoles, and even some third party games - COD, Fifa etc.

When I saw the thread title I thought to myself "There will always be someone in there going "lol no exclusives troloooolololloloololo"", glad to see I was not left wanting.

I like strategy games as much as anyone, but it's one of the genres that has really decreased in following over the last years, it doesn't make sense to make strategy games when the audience just isn't there, and when you specialize in strategy games.. I hope you're not stupid enough not to guess the outcome of that scenario.

Halo Wars sold on the basis that it had the word HALO in it, just like anything that does sells better than most PS3 exclusives - if you want to play it that way.

Fail.

Age of empire 3 sold millions (betten than Halo wars) and so would have Age of Empire 4.

Personally I'm still pissed at MS for shutting down Ensemble - one of their few really strong studios. =/

Yes, such a dick move to close the developer of one of the absolute best game series of all time. MS really dropped the ball with that one. I miss Age of Empires so much and I've lost all hope when it comes to MS first party game development.

did you mean you think Halo Wars sold less than one million?

Well most of those new studios are working on unannounced games. Its unlikely they'll be releasing any games on the 360. They're probably gearing up for the Xbox 720 launch. Which brings the question, how long till Xbox 720? Microsofts 1st party lineup is already really barren.(just take a look at this years releases, only 1 AAA first party game) Next year will be even worse.

3rd party support is basically the same as PS3.

Why is the Xbox 360 having such an amazing year sales-wise when their exclusives are far in between?
People could buy a PS3 and get the same exact experience.

I think it's pretty obvious it's Kinect, but not only that, exclusives don't have anywhere near the selling power people think they do. Sony could have sold nearly exactly the same amount of PS3's this year as they have without Resistance, LBP2, Killzone 3, Ico Collection, Ratchet and Socom.

That might be true for this year, but not for earlier years. In the long run, having a good exclusive line-up will bring in more hardware sales, the effect might not be immediate but it is there.

If the ps3 didnt have all its exclusives this gen, there would be almost no reason to get it over the 360, and the same vice versa. Imagine no gears and no halo for 360?

I get that you talking about this year's exclusives for ps3, which i agree with, but your first statement implies that you talking about the entire exclusive catalogue doesnt have that big of an affect on sales, which is wrong.

so FF/tekken/MGS/GTA is 360 exclusives?the reason of exclusives dosen't matter now it's because right now we are in late of this gen,no one said it dosen't matter forever, thats right wat?huh?
