All done for 2011. Happy New Year everyone! And good luck to Smeags writing the article of this thread.

Don't think anyone's going to read the essay I wrote on Deus Ex, but I had fun writing it!

Some stats on my list:

  • PSN (PSP & PS3)- 1

Note: GTA San Andreas and Final Fantasy VII were played on multiple systems.

2. Super Mario Bros 3 (NES)

Super Mario Bros 3 is not only my favourite Mario game, it's also my favourite platform game. After the wrong turn that was SMB2, or Doki Doki Panic as it's otherwise known, Nintendo took everything that was (and is) fantastic about the original game and simply made it better, and like the original, it still holds up spectacularly well today. Of the new additions, there were a few new powerups that added to the experience, and my favourite of those remains the iconic Tanooki Suit. There were numerous memorable moments that make the game great, but the one I always remember the most is when you first discover you can get behind the scenery of the game if you held down on the d-pad. It's something everyone has probably done by now, but it's the little things like that which are always great the first time you do it, and I think Nintendo are the masters at things like that.

01: Final Fantasy X PS2

Erm...wait-

Love this game, in my opinion the best game ever and regardless of what anyone says, FFX-2 COMPLETES the game. This game is a true reflection of what modern day FF games should be, Beautiful visuals, a vast vast world AND, AND, AND DISTRACTIONS!!! That's right, the game had minigames

Whilst yes the game had the typical RPG cheese, yes laughing scene, I'm talking about you

But the game was the epitomy of awesomeness and replaying the game over and over is always a joy :)

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

I just read most of it, as i got Deus Ex (and Invisible War) on Steam just over a year ago, but mostly due to not having a mouse I haven't been able to enjoy it. Also every time I came across a robot I had to figure out a way to sneak around it (often laboriously) or else run like hell away from it as I didn't seem to be able to destroy them, which got on my nerves. I think most of my problems do have their source in my restricted movement though, so once I've had my fill of the Half-Life pack I just bought I'll be going back to Deus Ex.

Completed my list. (I can't be bothered writing about them though, sorry)

This is going to be a REAL pain to compilate, because I'm going through once all the people have finished their lists to give an overall ranking. But I can ONLY do it if EVERYONE updates their original post.

Don't worry, I'll be going through and ranking the games and making a gamrFeed article out of it like last year. I didn't mention it yet because I didn't want people signing up just to boost a particular series, game, or system(s). If you're interested, here's last year's article (it's pretty bare bones, I wasn't intending on making it a story until I realized the hit potential on an article with "Best Games" in it haha.)

It'll be my last project before I relinquish my job as a Writer here. Want to end it on a good note. ^_^

Your last project! I liked your articles. What will we do when Metroid celebrates its 25th anniversary?

You just made it worth writing then, lol. With the robots, at the start of the game your brother gives you a choice of 3 weapons. Take the GEP gun (the rocket launcher) as it's the only weapon you can't pickup on Liberty Island and if you can't sneak past a bot then you have a decent backup weapon to take them out. Also, EMP & LAM grenades and later on the HE ammo (grenades basically) for the assault rifle all help destroy bots when you do go up against them. I think the combat shotgun also Sabot ammo useful for taking out the small spider bots.

I found using the GEP gun (it has a lock on mechanism) to take out the bots relatively early in a level and from a distance made the rest of the level much easier. If you get your computer skill to advanced you can also deactivate them that way.
