All done for 2011. Happy New Year everyone! And good luck to Smeags writing the article of this thread.

Don't think anyone's going to read the essay I wrote on Deus Ex, but I had fun writing it!

I just read most of it, as i got Deus Ex (and Invisible War) on Steam just over a year ago, but mostly due to not having a mouse I haven't been able to enjoy it. Also every time I came across a robot I had to figure out a way to sneak around it (often laboriously) or else run like hell away from it as I didn't seem to be able to destroy them, which got on my nerves. I think most of my problems do have their source in my restricted movement though, so once I've had my fill of the Half-Life pack I just bought I'll be going back to Deus Ex.

You just made it worth writing then, lol. With the robots, at the start of the game your brother gives you a choice of 3 weapons. Take the GEP gun (the rocket launcher) as it's the only weapon you can't pickup on Liberty Island and if you can't sneak past a bot then you have a decent backup weapon to take them out. Also, EMP & LAM grenades and later on the HE ammo (grenades basically) for the assault rifle all help destroy bots when you do go up against them. I think the combat shotgun also Sabot ammo useful for taking out the small spider bots.

I found using the GEP gun (it has a lock on mechanism) to take out the bots relatively early in a level and from a distance made the rest of the level much easier. If you get your computer skill to advanced you can also deactivate them that way.
