How in the world did Sony manage red with the PS4 out? The only thing that sold better in gaming history was the Wii.

And Nintendo is still finding ways to profit. They've had like 1 or 2 years of no profit out of like 30 plus. They are an extremely small and efficient company. They may not massive studios that are able to pump out huge games that sell tens of millions very often, but because of their smallness and how successful their games usually are they are able to stay in the green. Sony and particularly Microsoft could learn a lot from Nintendo about how to stay profitable even during the bad times.

They're secret is to set themselves apart from the console wars by not being in competition with the other companies. Xbox vs Playstation? Who cares, they all have 3DS's.

PS4 wasnt out in 2011

Hard to believe Sony made less money in gaming than MS since the launch of PS4.

Are the MS figures just gaming division or do they include other stuff? As it is, it looks like MS selling less hardware and software still has them performing better financially.

Whoever said life to be like a box of chocolates clearly didn't know what he was talking about.

Life is more like a game of bumper cars. At every turn there is a possibility you will get screwed.

I think this tread should be kept updated.

Are the FY2012 available? It would be interesting to see how they all finished that year. It was Nintendos 1st in the red right?

Yeah, first year they were in the red. I'd imagine it won't happen again for this year, though.

They returned to profitability this year so they were in the red from 2012-2014

I can't believe that, despite all the mistakes they made in the mid 90s till 2006, that Nintendo was almost always more profitable than Sony Computer Entertainment.

Some days I just blow up.

($2,889,000,000)

Some Thoughts:

In the past decade, 06-15, Sony lost$3.3B, Nintendo made $15.5B, and MSFT made $3.1B

The PS3 years (06-13) lost $3.6B, 360 years (05-13) made $1M, and Wii years made $15.5B

It seems the Nintendo will make more money on the Wii U than sony did on the ps3. Also I could see Nintendo making of fro their losses in 2014 this year due to the holidays.

Oh didnt see that

Question on the Microsoft part - is this just the Xbox division?  Because Microsoft has been making games since at least the early 80's.  Even Gates himself coded a little car game.

Plus they  made some really good Flight Sims, Age of, and other games.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Tell me a funny joke!
