its the best choice and i'm sure Sony wouldn't mind making more money so?

its also been rumored for sometime now so theres like a 10% chance of it happening

Its likely. Unless they stick to DVD again......
I doubt they'd use their own custom format.

Wouldn't surprise me, considering how much MS is about flaunting their hardware muscle and staying with the latest tech

well they need to have blu ray since microsft wants the xbox to be the ultimate multimedia device

You guys know sony probably owns less than like 10% of blu-ray revenue right?

Sony really doesn't own the Blu-ray format they where just one of the major co-creators. Anyway I don't see why the the next Microsoft console will not use Blu-ray. Unless they go the Nintendo route and come up with their own format that is similar to Blu-ray when it comes to storage capabilities.

The BDA group consists of 17 companies :

CyberLink Corporation
Dell Inc.
Hewlett-Packard Company
Hitachi Ltd.
Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.
LG Electronics Inc.
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (Panasonic)
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation
Pioneer Corporation
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.
Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd.
Sharp Corporation
Sonic Solutions
Sony Corporation
TDK Corporation
Victor Company of Japan (JVC, minority owned by Matsushita), Ltd.
Warner Home Video Inc.

Sony definately owns more then 10%, likely high 20's in that aspect, just under 30% according to this article.

The top 4 ip holders of Blu-ray are Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, and Warner

Unless they're coming up with their own format, I see them going with Bluray. DVD has been showing its age this gen, especially with the fact that some multi-platform titles come on one Bluray and multiple DVDs. I'm sure there are some developers hoping MS adopts the Bluray format.

Yes they will use Blu-ray. Though M$ will probably go down the Nintendo route and avoid the word blu-ray. (and yes the WiiU uses blu-ray)
