Awesome numbers for Gears 3, however...

I hope this doesn't mean that everyone spent their money already and won't have any left to pick up Dark Souls on the 360 next week.

I swear you fuckers better buy it!

I wasn't a big fan of Demon Souls, and I almost never buy a new game so sorry.

However I hope this game opens well on the 360. I support JRPG's on the 360.

Amazing Gears 3. Makes you think why Epic doesn't go multiplatform.......Gears could easily reach Call of Duty sales(20million+) if it was also on PS3. Is Microsoft paying Epic an amount equal to 8 million game copies sold? If not I suggest Epic rethink this exclusive thing.

Anyway these amazing Gears 3 boost gets me thinking about how the PS3 has no system seller. I hope for next-gen Sony focuses on quality over quantity. Sure having a ton of exclusives is a great bullet point but most gamers don't have enough time or money to buy all of them or end up getting them used at Gamestop.

i severely doubt gears would ever sell 20M total even if it was multi console when it released back in 2007

the majority that want to play gears already went out and got a 360 yrs ago bringing it to ps3 would still net some sales but nowhere near the 360 version unnless it went multi when it released back in 07

what makes me think is why sony doesnt have there own hardcore TPS? or even FPS that can match what MS delivers with Halo, what about a exclusive modern FPS that resembles COD? i would liked to of seen a modern FPS sony exclusive like COD but with Gorilla Games behind it with there graphics and immersion effects same with TPS

What are you talking about? Sony already has those things you just mentioned. They have a hardcore TPS in Uncharted. They tried to counter Halo with Killzone and some people also claimed Resistance was aimed at Halo as well. As for an exclusive Modern FPS they have SOCOM. The difference is Sony doesn't market their games the same way. It seems it's a gift and a curse having tons of exclusives. They don't seem to get the marketing push they all deserve. Uncharted doesn't really need it though as that game sells itself.

Socom is not an fps and  contrary to your statements, Uncharted 3 does need marketing in at least some form and like most(if not all) things, would benfit greatly from it. On a somewhat related note though, it seems uncharted 3 has been getting a lot of tv spots at least I saw them multiple times when watching the simpsons sunday.

KZ and resistance cant match what halo offers feature wise not even close, even if you were to combined the games together since resistance is the one that has the co-op.  uncharted lol if you think thats a hardcore TPS more like adventure/action game its not rated M and UC series has way less gunplay compared to gears and im sure the same will be said for 3, and still lacks features like full campaign co-op, online and offline split screen, and i cant even play against someone local in UC, and theres more that gears does like its horde mode.  im not even gonna talk about socom

other then repeat franchises god of war, ratchet, mgs4, and GT(and i feel forza is not far behind and in some cases is ahead) the only real progress they made with what has been released currently off the top of my head was with uncharted, heavy rain and Afrika those are game experience MS doesnt have this gen

theres a reason why KZ, Resistance, ect. dont sell extremely well and its defiantly not solely on the marketing side, cause if it was games like uncharted heavy rain(very good sales for what it is) wouldnt of sold or reviewed well either

Why is resistance 3 doing so bad? It doesn't look like it will do that much more than a million if it reaches a million.

A lot of PS3 owners flooded the forums, threatening to boycott Resistance 3 if it included the PSN Pass. From the looks of it, they made good on their promise. Also, Insomniac going multiplatform made some fans sour. I really don't get it; the game looks great from what I've seen.

your all a bit overeacting.... it is the first major exclusive this year

So 360 version sells 8 million, you think it'd sell 12 million on PS3? lol. It wouldn't even sell 6 mill on PS3, certain franchises are just ingrained to certain userbases. Gears could reach 4 mill maybe 5 on PS3.

And we have no idea what MS/Epic relationship is, I'm sure Epic get something out of it.

While i respect your opinion and status on this site. Your really not in a position to say Gears would sell X amount on PS3. Truth is none of us know what kind of sales a Gears game could do on PS3 because there is yet to be one.  It could do 6 million or it could flop and not sell 1 million who knows.

As far as franchises being ingrained to certain user bases. Resident Evil is more ingrained on the PS3 side imo, but it still sold 3M on 360. FF 13 sold close to 40% on 360 for a first time main FF title (XI doesn't count)   I know KZ and Resistance don't sell alot for a AAA shooter, but PS3 has alot of shooter fans both in FPS and TPS. Hell it's most hyped game this year is a TPS.  CoD didn't start off selling 20M right off the bat, it took time for the series to grow. The same thing can happen with Gears. With every new entry, it would get more hype and might eventually get to CoD status and if that's the case, the PS3 would play an important part of that.   That's why I agree with VGKing..

It's pretty easy to know what kind of numbers it would do on PS3. Any ports would struggle to reach 1.5 mill, any simultanious releases would go vastly in 360's favour.

XIII did not sell close to 40% on 360!! Dunno what figures you're looking at. Gears has had 2 sequels to grow now and this will be the first one that will show modest growth, it won't ever get as big as COD. Neither will halo, they're both near their ceiling.

Well okay i rounded for agruements sake, but it was close.

FF XIII PS3 - 4,699,608

FF XIII 360 - 1,822,921

1,822,921 divided by 4,699,608 * 100 = 38.78%.

Which is like i said, close to 40%...

PSN pass isn't going to stop people buying resistance 3 new. And Insomniac going multilplatform shouldn't reduce its sales, the vast majority of PS3 owneres don't care for such stuff.

Expected a bigger boost from Gears 3. Will be fully vanished next week.

I agree. All copies will be gone by then.

These numbers are way overtracked... Square shipped just 6.2 million.

OP. The next shipment numbers for 360 and PS3 will be interesting.

Your math is horrific .... that is not how you work it out 0_o

100% it sold 6.5 mill, so 10% is 650k. So it sold less than 30% on 360 ......
