NO REMAKE'S lol we need NEW GAME'S! i want to play NEW GAME'S not old game remake's we need new experience's not old 1's but then again nothing is wrong with having A FEW remake's and collection's i would gladly purchase dark cloud collection, kingdom heart's collection and a few other's |
So, you go from screaming No, to saying there is nothing wrong.
Hahaha, flip flopping as much as I do!
At this point, with the possibility of new console releases in the "near enough" future, collections and remakes might end up making more sense.
They can be brought out quicker, take less upfront costs and would probably provide more profits (especially collections).
A Suikoden Collection? Shadow Hearts? Dark Cloud? Final Fantasy? .Hack? Xenosaga? Collections could be EPIC!

Of course they did because the only big market for JRPGs is Japan itself and Japan buys mostly portables now. They go were the profit is. |
their is profit to be made on ps3 aswell
i think Tale's Of Xillia's lifetime number's will determine if there is some profit to be made on home console's still(not including Final Fantasy 13)
the wii has proven that it is not the place --> Tales Of Graces, Last Story and the others
the 360 with Tales Of Vesperia, Star Ocean, Lost Odyssey and the others
now ps3 never really got the chance to get a full fledge big name jrpg to release for it to see what number's it can do(im not counting Final Fantasy 13)
Xillia will be the 1st. now let's see how much it sells on ps3 in JP compared to what Vesperia and Graces sold on 360 and wii lifetime

the only reason i would say this is true would be due to ps3's jrpg library |
We share the same opinion here. JRPG's are sacred in my eyes, a huge chunk of the reason why the PS2 trounces anything and everything.

Yes, there is a small market for JRPGs on consoles. These companies are not ignorant though and they know that JRPGS are fading in the west. The lack of JRPGs just reflects the lack of major interest for the genre by the western audience. Unfortunantly, a minority of gamers are put off by this and all there is to do is to stick to handhelds. Minorities hardly ever get what they want it, life has usually been about appealing to the opinion of the majority.

their is no big presence of jrpg's on ps3 because the jrpg dev's jumped to the handheld's when this gen began |
I think there were other reasons too, like major JRPG developers receiving large backhanders from a certain company.

@ Bolded Contradiction there ;) |
You make a point, the game was linear to a point but there was still many choices in the game and there was actually the feeling of a full world to explore rather than only getting limited freedom on Gran Pulse... I did like XIII but i would prefer at least back to XII and X days, ideally VII, VIII and IX level of freedom with Airships and many side quests but who are we kidding, its SE... they clearly do not listen to their fans lol ;)

Well VII, XIII and VIII are my favourite (in that order). I have also played FFX, but I haven't completed it. I still found it far more restrictive and slow paced than FFXIII, I haven't got the airship yet (I believe I am literally a boss battle away from getting it). How much freedom does it actually gives you?
