5 PS3 games are already over 1M, Motorstorm and R:FoM are over 2M. Fifa 08, NES Pro Street and Uncharted will sell 1M soon.

 Motorstorm sold 1m before it was bundled, resistance sold 1 m without bundling, AC and CoD have made it there on their own, PES 2008 has made it there (including WE) FIFA will make it there very soon, and now software is selling well in Europe, and it is improving

I actually work on the game and it is not coming to 360, lets all make tons of threads about this now

Back on the subject, I suspect the PS3 should have some new bundle deals at the time of launch, and i think sony have said they will bundle MGS and dualshock together with the console in Europe. If there is a price drop (value increase if you like) sales will be boosted, and software sales in Europe have been very good, as many of you have said, MGS's strongest market, indeed AC in europe outsold the US

Now this thread has gone from criticism of those who want to believe this rumor to sad diplays of diehards trying to rally public reassurance amongst one another that MGS4 will not only remain PS3 exclusive, but will be superior on the PS3, is under Kojima's complete control even above that of Konami's, will sell millions in spite of the PS3's userbase, and that it won't be like every other franchise comming off of last generation which up until now has had declining sales with each subsequent successor.

Listen, if you're going to call the rumor mongers pathetic and tiresome you could do yourself a favor by not raising the bar yourselves in these transparent displays of insecurity and fear. You act as if establishing any sort of popular consensus here among your peers will dismiss the rumors or encourage people to buy the PS3 version the day it comes out instead of waiting to see if their is a 360 version. You act as if anything you say here can actually change anything or for that matter put your fears to rest.

Since the only thing up until now that has been able to give any of you peace of mind is ignoring the issue, do yourself a favor and ignore this thread if it bothers you that much. Rumors will persist no matter what the circumstance and like it or not there is plenty of reason to suspect if not out right assume this one will come true, I think that's why you all respond so violently towards it.

I didnt make that site, Its a site from the past that fanboys used to start a rumor of Bioshock for the PS3, All Im saying is XboxFamily took the same context (in Blue and used it to start MSG4 rumors.. go to the Xboxfamily site and compare articles.

 Funny how a freeweb homepage is dedicated to one rumor saying "Bioshock to PS3" when the title of the homepage is bioshockto360. Funny how there is no date on that site. Could it be that the maker of that homepage did so because he wanted people to think it was old? And very funny how the only threads that mention this homepage that is NOT about the MGS4 rumor, was actually created TODAY?

Sure. As I said before, it's called "Resident Evil 4". In this skit, Sony was the big bad guy stealing Nintendo's lifesaving exclusive. It sold very well.

I think that is a bit different though, since there was an uber-huge difference in install base. But the PS2 version still only sold 300k more. Plus the Playstation had a bigger history in Resident Evil gaming. The Xbox got Substance, but that did quite poorly if my memory serves me correctly. (but that wasn't surprising since it when from giant install base to small install base)

I still don't think MGS would sell well at all on the 360, especially if it came out a year later. MGS has its best sales in Europe (where Sony is really picking it up compared to the 360), it would sell terribly in Japan and would do decently in USA. (but even then I think a lot of people will have already bought it)


 

Oblivion is doing well on the PS3, though I honestly don't know why. The 360 at least has easy achievements and the PC is the far superior version with user created content that fixes all the things wrong with that game. The PS3 version really doesn't have much going for it but at least it's doing well.

 The reason the PS3 version is doing so well is IT IS ONLY $30 BUCKS!!!!!!! (not the GOTY edition)

On another thought...

Even an acclaimed game like Bioshock was limited in its sales by its approach towards the FPS genre, it simply didn't appeal to as many as a game like Halo did. No matter how good MGS4 is don't think a franchise which barely sold a million with it last installment (MGS3) can break records with the fourth.

I have a feeling we'll be somewhat dissapointed with MGS4's reception.


MGS3:Substinence the re-release sold 1 million, MGS3:Snake Eater (the original game) sold 4 million

This rumor keeps popping up because XBox360 owners really want MGS4. The majority of them are more hardcore gamers than a lot of PS3 owners. I believe a great number of Xbox360 owners will eventually get a PS3 to play this game.
