Adding the Wii into the mix of the “Console War” equation is misleading at best.

I know well over a dozen people who own a Wii, and every one of them has either a 360 or a PS3 as well. I do not know a single person with a Wii who does not have another console of this Generation.

Besides, the only reason why anyone should care if a console sells well, is that games continue to be made for it. If the gaming industry has grown to the point where the 360, Wii, and PS3 can all be successful this generation, then what console sells the most is irrelevant.

Anecdotal evidence = fail.  I could say I know only one person who owns both a Wii and another console, but it wouldn't matter.  As another person said, the Gamecube's lack of third party support proved sales are very important.  Likewise, the massive PS2 library proves the same thing.

I know dozens who own or want a Wii and have no interest or even knowledge of the PS3 and 360

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

I know two...

I know a gazillion people who have a Wii and 62 trillion own a PS3/360. Obviously the Wii is a fad. It only has party games and no matter how much it sells, it will never get good games. Wii is ruining the industry. Long live HD graphics because the only innovation people care about is graphics.

Is a gazillion a number or a race of gazelle-lion peoople?

Well if the Wii is everyones second console like MS and Sony would like it to be the Wii is set for a minimum of 50% market share. I personally believe it will be around 55% at Gens end

psn- tokila

add me, the more the merrier.

I just know 2 people who have a Wii and both got the PS3 this Christmas. Obviously I'm in Europe.

Hardcore gaming is a bubble economy blown up by Microsoft's $7 $6 billion losses.

Yup. I know one person who has a Wii, and he recently put it out for auctioning on Finn.no. If you say "Wii" to anyone over 18 or under 10 in Norway they look quizically at you and scratch their heads in confusion. The same with Gamecube, Nintendo is becoming less popular with every gen here it seems.

I know 5 people who have Wii's and no other console, and 2 that have Wii's and nothing else. This is why ancetdotal evidence is stupid.

It's even more stupid when you consider the fact that you are more likely to assosiate with people who are like you, so not only is their possible bias from a small sample, there is a selection bias in the sample.

For another example, I know only two people with PS3s.  They both have a Wii as well and that's it.  Also a 360.  Yet i know people with just 360's and just wii's.  So by that sample, hey guess what, apparently nobody owns a Ps3 unless they own other systems.

Also most PS3 owners must use their PS3's more for PS2 games and movies than regular games!

So yeah, bad thought on that one.

I know of two other people with this gen gaming systems beside myself. One, like me, is Wii only... the other is kind of Wii60, in that it is actually a couple [bf/gf] who share both between them.
