Forums - Sales Discussion - Could PS VITA OUTSELL 3DS In Lifetime Sales? Or Will Nintendo Keep Its IRON GRIP On the Handheld Market?!

Who will win the handheld gaming system battle?

Playstation Vita 135 36.68%

Nintendo 3DS 212 57.61%

Nintendo will win the bat... 13 3.53%

SONY will win the battle,... 8 2.17%

Total:368

At an end your rule is Nintendo, and not short enought it was!

Could this scenario actually happen?

Post E3 there has been sooo much positive buzz around PS Vita....but this was also seen last year with 3DS.

Last year post 3DS' E3 we had threads saying PSP2 would be dead on arrival.

This year post E3 no-ones saying 3DS will be dead but many believe PS Vita will fight this battle well.

Now we know the price of both systems.....we have a rough idea of the launch lineup for PS Vita

Who will win the upcoming portable games system battle?!

If Sony really wants to beat 3DS, they need to reach out to the mass market and make games that appeal to them like Nintendo did with the DS, and I see no signs of them doing this right now. But at the same time, Nintendo isn't really either. So it'll be a much closer race than the DS vs PSP race, and I think Vita will actually take Japan.

But overall, I still think Nintendo's experience in the handheld market, the large amount of third party support, the strength of their American market, and the head start, will be too much for Sony to overcome.

No, Nintendo will win, but not by the sheer amount the DS has.

The vita looks great and is ticking all the boxes for US, but yet again Vita just isn't going to appeal to the casual market like the 3DS eventually will, and so they'll lose.

While I don't see 3DS ever having the buzz DS had, when those big hitters come it should sell the platform, Vita simply doesn't have any of those.

That said Nintendogs + Cats has bombed hasn't it? Or is it a leggy kind of franchise?

No, the best the Vita can do is sustain itself and make a nice profit for Sony, but I doubt it's going to beat anyone. If Nintendo get desperate then they could easily drop the price down to $150, re-design the console, release some Mario game and then ride on that for a while. If that doesn't work, then maybe.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

your reference means Nintendo will win...at least for about another 20 years.
OT: i certainly think the PS Vita will put up a greater fight than the PSP and manage alot more sale, but i still think the 3DS will come out on top.

it will unfortunatly.

lol not at all but i think they will do great. They also may have a better start than 3ds.

I am putting my bet on the psvita!
It will be a hard battle, but Sony is up to the challenge!

didn't we already have this thread from Gigasmash right after Sony's E3 conference? Why do you have to do it again, darth? :(

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
