How Much Will the Wii U Controller Cost?

Over $100 26 20.80%

$99.99 37 29.60%

$89.99 11 8.80%

$79.99 26 20.80%

$69.99 or less 25 20.00%

Now that Reggie Fils-Aime has pretty much confirmed that the Wii U can indeed support two of its screen-based controllers, how much will one of these sell for as a stand-alone purchase?

According to many E3 showgoers, the screen is not HD (many reports actually indicate 480 resolution), and unlike the iPad, is only single touch and doesn't display true black.  Also, because the unit is very lightweight, it stands to reason that it could be reasonably cheaper than one might think initially.

I would guess that they could probably get away with the same price as the $89 balance board, especially if it came bundled with software.

$69-$79 or $79-$89 bundled with a game.

I'm thinking at least 99 dollars.

^_^

I dont see how it will be anything less than $100.

I went for 69.99 or less because that is the only catagory to include $0, hasn't it already been confirmed that it is not going to be sold seperately? I am guessing that two screens may well be supported but from two seperate consoles.

Something tells me this thing's gonna be pricey, if the Wiimote and Nunchuck costs a whopping $60..

And yes, I had previously heard that it would not be sold separately as well, but that would be really foolish... What if it breaks?  There would have to be some way of easily obtaining another, even if it didn't support two simultaneously.

$80 with Wii U Play

$60 to $75

Enough to be "the most expensive controller ever" but not enough to really prevent people from buying it.

$79.99

I think a lot of people are seriously overestimating the cost of the parts that will go into making one of these controllers.

It's not a standalone device; it has no CPU, GPU, system RAM, etc.

Beyond having the basic internals of the current Wii Remote Plus (less than $10 worth of components), the LCD display (maybe a $20/sub $20 part), the touch screen interface (resistive; low cost), about the only other components will be the signal processor and related components that relay AV/player input signal to the console itself; not expensive parts.
