Not even news, the bit about patchter saying sony have a big unannounced vita game for e3 and their primary focus will be on Games and not services People are actually bitching about this 0_o It just boggles my mind. Sony can ship the cure for cancer with each vita sold and they still can do no right sigh
on other news sony are REALLY pushing Gravity Daze it seems. First the new commercial and now http://andriasang.com/con0zx/gravity_rush_music/ Gives me the feeling they are already working on a sequel ;) |
(I wrote this all last night before the site was like "lolno")
wait, really? when I saw that 'announcement' (that Sony was focusing on games and not services), my first thought was "Thank fucking god, a company that GETS it!" doubly so after I heard Microsoft was all "oh, we wanna focus on services"...like netflix and shit.
I don't get it...yeah, Sony Goofs from time to time, and they're certainly not a shinung example of business ethics, but on the game side, they GET it. they apparently suck at TV's and stuff, b ut when it comes to games, no other company compares in business goals and respect in my eyes, No other company agrees with me on the main issues. Every time I See Sony's stuff, I think "Man, that's the kind of behaviour I Want to see". I mean, I can't even think of all the times I saw some innovation or business decision that I thought was perfect.
Giving Media Molecule free creative reign over LittleBigPlanet and marketing the hell out of it? THAT'S awesome
Encouraging games like Heavy Rain on PS3 is something awesome
the PS Suite so that any indie developer can publish stuff on Sony's platforms is a dream
Cross system compatibility (even if it's so far been horribly underutilized)
Plenty of developers have said time and time again that Sony gives them encouragement and creative freedom, which is why the PS3 has some of the most experimental, unique gameplay experiences this generation. HEavy Rain, Journey, etc. This is why I think I like the PS3 best, it has the most variety and easily the most unique games. Most popular games on 360 are so safe...so boring; everything on the Wii (save a few gems) is stale, even if its's good. Don't get me wrong, some of the best games this gen have been Wii games, but it's still just wave after wave of mario, metroid, zelda, kirby, donkey kong, etc. what system this generation has the most new IP's?
Xbox 360 - Viva Pinata, Gears of War no idea if Mass Effect counts
Wii - No More HEroes, uh....help me out here
PS3 - Resistance, inFamous, Heavy Rain, LittlebigPlanet, Uncharted, Heavenly sword, ModNation Racers, MAG, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Demon's Souls, MotorStorm, etc
And those are just the game series's I own. I don't get it, Sony Brings the games, and people still hate them for it. hell, 2009 came along and people were STILL claiming PS3 had no games.
I'm aware I sound like a super fanboy (and my half-sleep induced lack of ability to properly elaborate isn't helping), but I've noticed people just LOVE to hate sony this entire generation. Hell, even LAST generation, I always got people claiming the original Xbox was better just becuase it sold more (it didn't)...I swear to god people can be retarded.
My point is that I See this same thing happening on the Vita. 3DS has a Zelda remake, a Starfox remake, a Resident Evil Sequel, a Kid Icarus game, a Mario sequel, and a Mariokart sequel...and granted all of those games are good, but that's a year's worth of buildup, and so far we only have sequels and remakes. Vita on the other hand already has (admittedly) a bunch of sequels like Uncharted, Wipeout, Lumines and others, as well as ports of Disgaea, Mortal Kombat, Rayman, Marvel vs Capcom, Street Fighter X Tekken, and a load of stufff in the near future like Ragnarok Odyssey, Ciel no Surge, Soul Sacrifice, PErsona 4, Gravity Rush, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, and even a rumor of Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale...and who knows how many announcements at E3.
Of those games, what console had the most new stuff? yeah, both have remakes, ports, and sequels, but only the Vita actually has anything NEW.
For the record, I love both handhelds, but only one has gotten me excited in the last couple months. Ever since the Vita game out, only like 2 games on the 3DS have interested me, and the only games I'm excited for in the future are smash Brothers, Paper Mario, Kingdom Hearts, and New Super Mario Brothers 2...all sequels.
Gah, I'm ranting.
PS3 has the best overall game list this generation, Vita is already shaping up to be a real winner and it's only been three months (holy hell..only 3 months and already this much quality?!...3DS took twice that long just to get ONE good game). Microsoft has stalled and I have no idea how they intend to go forward if they've done nothing but kinect and Netflix for the past three years (though Halo 4 will certainly be a top seller), WiiU looks...well, we'll see, and PS3 still has a couple years left in it.
I'm still rambling. Good night.
Rayman Origins rules. I'm going for platinum baby!
