Microsoft has stalled and I have no idea how they intend to go forward if they've done nothing but kinect and Netflix for the past three years (though Halo 4 will certainly be a top seller)

It appears Sony was right a few years back when they said Microsoft had punched itself out of the fight, at least from a gamer's perspective. Unfortunately, MS seems to have the right idea in that exclusives only really matter from a business perspective in the first 2-3 years of a console's life. Since they've already established themselves, the popularity of their brand is enough to see them through the remainder of the generation because most people will buy Xboxes to play with their friends who have Xboxes. Presumably they are focusing on Xbox Live services this year because those things will carry forward to the Nextbox, while the 360 has to coast on multiplatform support because all of Microsoft's development resources are going to next gen projects. I just really, really hope that Sony launching before with MS with a reasonable price tag and (hopefully) continued free online shifts things next generation, because there's no doubting that Sony has the best culture of creativity of the three platform holders.

But yeah, if I hadn't already abandoned the good ship Microsoft a few years ago to come back to the warm bosom of Mother Sony, I'd be pretty pissed at the utter lack of effort. At least it always makes for a morbidly fascinating E3 show. HEY GUISE ITS CALL OF DUTY!!! WOOO!!! OK NOW LETS LOOK AT THE DASHBOARD FOR THE NEXT HOUR.
