I am not trying to diss or make what they do unimportant. I am just pointing out that if you don't add anything to the database then you probably have 0% chance in winning.

I would like to contribute myself to the database but I have no idea where to start. Should I go back a few generations and try and add old games? Do I add new games? I just don't know where to effectively start at to make any difference. With my luck I would just be trying to add games that are already in the database.

You could always go through your game collection and see if they are missing something in the database. Lots of games are missing banners, and I guess you could add a screenshot or two to some games.

The big issue is, most of the time they get there first, and they do it a lot more. I get what you're saying, but there's nothing we can do...

It's probably right they get something back anyway

All gameDB admins got were they are by a lot of hard work, so don't say there is nothing 'we' can do.

They were normal members and they worked hard and got put on the team.

How do you contribute to the Database? I see no option of doing so?

Check out http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/

You can add games to the database here:
http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/addgame.php

And other areas via the 'Edit' drop down on individual pages (including screenshots!) -- for example, you can add/edit this game's synopsis here (but don't, there is one:)

That's why I said we should give them something back anyway, if you look. Because they work hard

As it should be, to be honest. The entire purpose of badges and gamrRewards is to not only encourage more activity across the site, but also to get regular users to help contribute to the site in the most useful ways (getting friends to sign up, building up the database, creating popular threads, etc.). If you're only able to win by having a healthy total in the 2 major areas (social and game database) then the system is working as intended.

Kantor and seece are spot on - it's perfectly possible to compete with the GameDB guys, they don't have any in-built advantages over the rest of us.

They do get to approve their own submissions.

GameDB Admins soon won't be able to approve their own work, and we're able to check their submissions and approvals, so if they cheat they'll get caught.

Great!  That's all I needed to hear.

Of course there is! The current rules gives all members (except mods) equal chances to compete about the prizes. It's just that you'll have to do lots of work to get to the top spot!

If anyone is serious about winning then committing a month to the database while contributing in the forums (in a non-spam way ) should do the trick.

Looks like it's impossible to win over Blacksaber.
