Forums - Gaming Discussion - HD Twins: All Time Greatest Exclusives List

this is a list of all playstation and xbox exclusives. for it to be included on the list. it has to have either a Gameranking or Metacritic score above 80. i included the ign score as well (just for reference), but a game will not be on the list if it has >80 ign score but not metacritic/gamerankings.

i also left off casual/party games, or just arcady type games, also no psn or xbla only games. (so a game like Singstar is not on the list, and neither is some download only game). also no move and Kinect only games. This list is mostly AAA and AA titles only.

what makes it exclusive?: (note this is the ps3 game rules, for the xbox game rules scroll way down)

-not on any other system

-only on a PlayStation

- different enough from its psp, ps2 counterparts (so games like MLB: The Show count)

if you think that i missed any games please tell me and i will add it.

the PS3 exclusive list didnt start off with a bang, though some games just missed the cut (like Ridge Racer). but it has been a tour de Force for several years now.

so as you can see with the scores, ign seems to score game slighlty higher. especially earlier in this gen. early in the ps3 life cycle ign ranked the ps3 games fairly high in comparison to others, but interesting enough lately that does not seem to be the case. you might be able to see a trend starting in late 2010, ign started rating games either very close to the gameranking and metacritic score, or below it. that is especially evident in 2011

well here is a list of the xbox games

basically same rules apply.

but i did include games also on PC (to make it more balanced), though i did italicize the PC games.

i tallied the xbox ONLY games, and the XBOX/PC games (you can see the totals, where it says TITLE) and then added them for the total amount of games.

again, if you feel i either unjustly included or didnt include a game, please just tell me, and i will look into it.

xbox got off to a very good start, securing many titles when the ps3 didnt exist, but the game rampage has been dialed back lately. again ign ranks their games slightly higher. ironically enough, earlier in this gen, ign ranked the games much closer to the gameranking. metacritc counterparts, but lately, starting around 2010, ign started ranking the games more higher than meta/rankings, the opposite of what appears to be happening with ps3.

okay xbox fans, i included you games too, so you can join in, and discuss your awesome games

edit: i fixed the xbox list. i subtracted Tales of Vesperia, and added FlatOut: Complete Carnage. FlatOut is also on the original xbox, but it still counts becuase it only on an XBOX (just like God of War collection counts). FlatOut is also on the PC, but like the other PC games, im including it. i adjusted scores accodingly

PS3 library is a bit larger but Xbox has got Halo. Can you imagine the hype when they announce Halo 4?

IGN score is already included in both Metacritic and Gamerankings. That means the scores of IGN have a triple impact on the outcome.

If you want to include IGN as a seperate column you should take out their reviews from Gamerankings and Metacritic and re-calculate their average scores. (and even then IGN would have 50-100 times the impact of a normal review)

why would i exclude the ign score.

im counting games the scrore 80 or higher on gameranking and metacritic, if ign helped get that composite score to 80, then so be it. im only including ign seperately in the first place, is so people can get a reference of how the biggest game review site scores their games. so like i said if ign score a game 87, but the meta/rankings score is 78.5, it wont be on the list

yeah but the whole making an average score using Metacritic, Gamerankings AND IGN thing just doesn't make much sense.

There's no problem in just listing their scores however.

well their is averages just for the gameranking score, just for the metacritic score, and just for ign score. as well as the average for all 3. i can understand that you dont like the average of all 3, but you can always ignore that average

well i hope you like my list, it took a long time finding all the games, and adding up and averaging the scores

Quite possibly the worst way to ever "average" out a review score, IGN is counted three times and one of those times it's weighted as 1/3, averaging Meta and Gamerankings together is bad enough since they both share most of the same sites, and then there are ports from PS2 counted... I really don't know where to start on this one lol

well your picture is awesome.

but there averages of, just meta, just GR, and just ign as well. so you you dont like me average gr, meta and ign score, you could just ignore it. you can look at each score, you can look at the verticle columns which average just one companies score, you can look at the average for a particular game, or you can not even look at the average. its up to you. just know that ign is only up there for reference. the game isnt on the list if it doesnt score 80 on GR or meta

theres 2 pots of ps2 games, which still means its a playstation exclusive, since its only on a PlayStation. i also included games on pc.

I don't get what people are so confused about. The IGN score is just a FYI. It shows an interesting trend, I forget who got fired but thats right about the time PS3 scores started going down and 360 scores started going up.

Good job on this list, MS did say that 2011 was the year of Kinect, so whatever that means. Hopefully, MS will have a big E3, announcing some promising new titles. I know that Sony has got their foot on the gas pedal at the moment, so I expect another big year in 2012.

Yeah...don't know why he's complaining if you included PC/360 games also.

This is a very interesting and informative list, the IGN trends are puzzling.

There's a better argument for PC titles rather than PS2 titles if you're wanting to talk about HD games obviously :P since PC titles were designed to be on high def hardware and PS2 titles were not...

Plus the rule he outlined at the start "different enough from its psp, ps2 counterparts" which the collections are just straight up ports... nothing added other than widescreen... oh and Sly has 3D on all three titles and not just one
