Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumor: This is what Wii2 will be like/about!?

If it's real, then next gen I'm buying a SNES  .

Aha, so this is the $1000 console Pachter was talking about! The Wiijector! TV-less gaming FTW!

Projector tech is still damn expensive and is poorly optimized for smaller screen sizes, this would effectively make the console not only the one with the worst picture quality (the surface on which you project the image will also play a huge role in picture quality and, besides, you can hook up your console to a projector anyhow, making the console itself being a projector rather useless) but also the one that cost the most.

A rather unimaginable thing in my opinion.

The bigger problem being sound, i would think, unless the system also came with speakers, or what?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Rumor: Bogus.

Idea: Damn stupid.

Quoted, because it's true.

A good quality projector alone would cost far above 500$. And with cheap crappy projectors eerything would look cheap and crappy.

I wouldn't even have enough free wall to project the picture. I have shelves and stuff everywhere. (Apart from that people with colored walls would be screwed.)

Yeah, you would need a separate speaker system for that. Also, motion controls with normal tracking really won't work too well once the screen reaches a certain size and beyond, the movements themselves will be far too cumbersome and the whole device would be moot, unless you move really far away from the screen, which makes the whole idea of a big screen to begin with utterly useless.

Today i spoke with my reliable source and knew new details about Wii2. Wii2 will have mobile projector and kinect like 3d-camera. That means that we will be allowed to play games on any wall without TV in a room where wii2 is placed. And we still could play with wii mote on a TV.

Watсh a video below and see how we could play on any wall withot a controller on this similar tech example.

I know I know not the most trustworthy source :P but I thought it's an interestinf idea/approach if true. What do you guys think?

If that were the case, I would not give it a chance tbh.

I don't really know what anyone is doing, but I would expect that using projectors with a next generation console would be something that was used along with the TV. In my opinion, the more interesting use would be to project images onto the ground giving something for people to interact with in the real world when playing games that track motion using cameras ...

With that said, last generation there were hundreds of rumoured "leaked" controllers for the "Revolution"; and, while some seemed to have some of the features that the Wiimote eventually had, none of the rumours were particularly accurate. While I have little doubt that someone might hear details about what Nintendo is doing, I think that their understanding is going to be amazingly limited; and their leaks will be about as accurate as the mock-ups from the previous generation that focused on motion controlls.

I think the idea though is that this is just where the next wii may come from conceptually.  Who knows what they'll do.  Maybe it will come with a fold out sort of 5X5 wall?  It's hard to say.  The Wii might have been shunned at it's conceptual stage for not being feasible given all the "room" that people needed to wave their arms around for wii sports etc...  And of course costs and whatnot will come down as well as time goes on.

One problem Nintendo is going to face in the future is competing with 3d tvs.  This may eliminate the problem of having to buy one.  Maybe this is just a part of their brainstroming session - one of the wii prototype controlers was a sort of pad if i remember correctly http://kotaku.com/#!222796/a-look-at-wacky-wii-controller-prototypes

All of those would have been considered bogus ideas.  But they were all in line with the concept of the wii.  What we are seeing may be fruitful towards the final Wii2 hardware.

It's not going to happen, and if it does - I'm not going to buy one
