It's good to see all the consoles doing well,
PS3 is now outselling 360 in europe (germany will be PS3 dominant shortly, France allready ) and japan ( allreay ps3 ) and starting to get recognition in the US. In US it was earlier being sold at under half the rate of the 360 it's now worked up to around 2/3 of the 360 sell rate , expect this to reach over 1:1 in 2008 (it's better value for money i am supprised anyone would touch 360) and who knows about 2009. Expect cheaper PS3 sales will begin to cut into Wii's dominance in mid 2008 , the differences in total sales figures for 2007 is no predictor at all for 2008.
Not many Wii owners would ever go back to a console without motion so PS3 is their HD upgrade path till nintendo bring out a new next-gen console, or MS add a motion controller for the Xbox.
And Yes as expected the PS3 has reached over 50% of 360 sales now so looking good.

Note the Folding distribuited supercomputer had cracked 1000 Tflops with 41000 active PS3's alone.

Europe will soon be PS3 dominate and Japan is already, you say? But I could've sworn there was a console called the Wii already in a large lead in both those regions. Hmm, I must be living in crazy land.

Beyond that saying Wii owners will never play a console without motion controls is pretty narrow minded, especially when you suggest that that will cause them to buy a PS3 over a 360. Last I checked the PS3 motion controls were no where near the level of the Wii, both in terms of hardware and use in games.

Note the Folding at home stats mean jack shit in the grand scheme of things.

i agree why does everyone on this thread(maybe not all but the majority)ignore the fact the wii is destroying both ps3 and x360. only 360 is beating wii in any main region(USA) and i dont think that will last much longer. japan is wii country, europe is mostly wii country and the us is mixed so the ps3 is struggling against competitors in all regions.

also the idea that wii owners will not buy x360 because it doesnt have motion controls is stupid. wii controls are unique(ps3 are tacked on and doesnt work any where near as well) and i bought this console because i wanted something different. ps3 is no different to ps2 just less games and extra technology thrown in. if i had a choice i would buy x360 over ps3 anyday

I want wii fit and I want it now

Yea, ps3 is no different to ps2 just less games and extra technology thrown in. And the Wii is no different from gamecube just with less games and new controls thrown in.

Do you think ur last was productive ?

My a touchy one aren't we?

@Hunter Alien

There is a fine line between liking something and mistaking that affinity for the console doing well. Your belief that the PSP and PS3 are doing anything other than mediocrely or are on any upward trend is a worrisome sign of this barrier being blurred.

Your right ... the fact that the PSP had seen a huge rise since last year in hardware sales meens nothing , also the fact that the PS3 sales are much higher than 90% of predictions meens nothing to ... lets dont forget that both consoles biggest hits are just comming , while the 360 will pretty much just fall afther the hype of H3 dies . Also , seeing how awfull the Wii is doing 3rd party software wise , I dont trust its future neither ...

MGS4 will help to form a US base for the PS3 , but IMO games like Killzone 2 , LIttle Big Planet , Home , GT5 etc. will be the games that will really push the PS3 in Japan . MGS4 will proabably kill the 360 during its release for at least a month , while I dont have to say nothing about it in Japan . Also , the fact that 2 FF games are comming to the PS3 ... well this fact talks for itself ...

when will you ever learn that hardware sales mean nothing without software sales to compliment them. Do PSP gamers selectively choose to ignore this simple fact because the reality of the matter is too hard to bear or does the linear logic of "More Hardware Sold = Success" too tempting to resist?

Also as it has been pointed out several times already, calling what little the PS3 managed over the holiday season a comeback is not only premature but quite honestly laughable. You have every right to be excited about this mild turn around but calling it a come back as this thread would imply is just... well, laughable.

Your willingness to pounce on the slightest bit of positive news as the "return of the King" for Sony just shows how desperate Sony supporters have been during this period where we were assured regardless that everything was going according to plan for Sony domination. The critics of this thread aren't here so much to put the PS3 down as they are here to ask the rabbid Sony supporters in this thread: "Have you no pride in how shamelessly you praise such a meager achievement for the console you had all along assured us would be #1?"

Well selling as much as the 360 after getting thumped all the time is a comeback I'd say. It just has a loooooong way to go.

Nope... There seem to be an awful lot of newbies who support some of those who make outrageous claims...

Yeah ... the domination starts. Now, we just have to stop the 360 from selling, stop folks from buying Wiis and we'll keep chipping away at that 7.3M lead that the 360 has.

I was reading in a Game Informer mag about successful consoles. You know what it said? When a console hits 10M, you know it's got a gaggle of casual gamers affecting sales. The first mil and even the second and third mill are diehard gamers. The first 10M? Nah ... it's a following of sorts.
