Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

I'm guessing you haven't played Uncharted 2? lol

LOL I love Uncharted 2 but to me Drake's Fortune is the best single player experience I've ever had. A lot of the plot and twists in Uncharted 2 were expected. I also liked the setting, the character development, the supernatural twist, and the villains much better in UC1. I really thought Sully had sold drake out, I had no idea those creatures would come and completely change the pace of the game, I didn't see it coming when Nevarro killed Roman, I liked having to team up with Eddie Raja to survive. Uncharted 2 just had cooler levels like the train and jumping from truck to truck and the stealthy(if you so chose) crashed train arena. But the atmosphere almost seemed way too fake for me to actually feel the same attachment as I did in the first one, especially in the second half of the game. My willingness to suspend disbelief was tested because of how much the first game was rooted in reality compared to how little the ending of the second game was. It also took me out of the moment when there would be the generic red dresser to climb on top of for the 20th time  in the middle of nowhere when it had absolutely no business being there. I could start to feel as if i was sitting in the chair with the guy designing the levels rather than being in the world that was created. Of course I didn't feel that way in the big action levels, they obviously spent way more time designing those.

I agree. Uncharted was (even) better than Uncharted 2. UC2 felt a bit too thought out and artificial.

They're not in my top 20 but both are real good games.

So in another words you guys accuse Uncharted 2 of having poor level design ? :S  I thought it had one of the most beautiful and convinving worlds I've ever seen on a video game! Also Lazarevic was a far greater villain than Navarro and Roman, both imposing and menacing, and the game introduced additional characters who were very interesting and unique (Harry Flynn,Chloe). And the most important thing of all: the first game's action was getting way too repeatable at times.Among Thieves was a roller coaster ride!

P.S.I forgot to mention that the Guardian things from Uncharted 2 are far scarier opponents than those cliche licker-wannabes from Drake's Fortune!

Final Fantasy X. Almost 10 years after, and it still can't be beat!

A tie between Baldur's Gate II and Betrayal at Krondor.

Ever?  Definitely the original Legend of Zelda.  There was nothing like it before its release and when you've completed it you get an entire remixed second quest.  Heck, even the box and the shiny gold cartridge impressed me.

But talking strictly this gen, I'd say the original Bioshock.  Superb writing and voice acting combined with the outstanding story twists and revelations (finding out who you really are... and who Atlas really is) made this experience anything but just another FPS to me.  And Rapture itself, every room and hallway, just a pure delight to explore.  My only perfect "10" so far this gen.

I accept that Bioshock had great writing, voice acting and story twists, but I had some problems with it.First of all I didn't like the animation:Everyone was moving  like they were ps1 characters. My second and most important issue was the battle. The interaction of the character with the enemies wasn't as good as it should be.It all looked very fake and rushed, and I found it unacceptable for a first person shooter...So overall,I found this game to be incredibly overrated!

But,then again, I'm in the minority.

FF 7  is the best single player expirience i have , but metal gear solid is very close to ff 7

PS: i don´t want to die without playing a zelda game .

You never have? What systems do you have? If you're getting the 3DS, get Ocarina of Time(might not blow you waya since most of the things it did have beeen redone and improved on in games since then). Find a way to play Majora's Mask and Windwaker then if Skyward Sword is good(according to Zelda fans, not critics) play tha too. The DS versions are easier and more cartoony but Zled a all the same.

I grant you that the animation can be a bit weird at times; not the best looking game overall, even for '07 (although it does have its moments), and I wish to god the game ran on UE3 instead of UE2.5.  But PS1 quality animation?  No way.

And when I said "perfect 10" I mean a perfect experience overall.  No game will ever be completely void of any flaws as there will always be something that could have been a bit better, something more added, etc.

The most impressive thing in Bioshock to me was Rapture itself.  Such a unique and original place that was totally believable for a place that could never really exist.  That combined with the writing, story, characters and overall style of the game (including the whole dynamic with the Big Daddys and Little Sisters) made the game feel more like a first person experience (much like the original Metroid Prime did) than a traditional shooter.  If all you want is a straight up shooter (ala Halo or COD) then yeah, Bioshock will disappoint in fulfilling that thirst.  But the last thing I'd call Bioshock is overrated.  That game totally owns this gen so far IMO (only Mario Kart DS and Uncharted 2 come close), with Infinite looking like the only game announced so far that could rival it.

For me it goes like this....

Previous generations:

Fallout 2(although buggy as hell, this game was just ahead of its time ni terms of immersion)

Vampire the Masquerade(I like buggy games lol,but this is a diamond,if you get past some issues)

This gen:

Mass effect 1-2

Fallout 3
