Ever?  Definitely the original Legend of Zelda.  There was nothing like it before its release and when you've completed it you get an entire remixed second quest.  Heck, even the box and the shiny gold cartridge impressed me.

But talking strictly this gen, I'd say the original Bioshock.  Superb writing and voice acting combined with the outstanding story twists and revelations (finding out who you really are... and who Atlas really is) made this experience anything but just another FPS to me.  And Rapture itself, every room and hallway, just a pure delight to explore.  My only perfect "10" so far this gen.

I accept that Bioshock had great writing, voice acting and story twists, but I had some problems with it.First of all I didn't like the animation:Everyone was moving  like they were ps1 characters. My second and most important issue was the battle. The interaction of the character with the enemies wasn't as good as it should be.It all looked very fake and rushed, and I found it unacceptable for a first person shooter...So overall,I found this game to be incredibly overrated!

But,then again, I'm in the minority.

I grant you that the animation can be a bit weird at times; not the best looking game overall, even for '07 (although it does have its moments), and I wish to god the game ran on UE3 instead of UE2.5.  But PS1 quality animation?  No way.

And when I said "perfect 10" I mean a perfect experience overall.  No game will ever be completely void of any flaws as there will always be something that could have been a bit better, something more added, etc.

The most impressive thing in Bioshock to me was Rapture itself.  Such a unique and original place that was totally believable for a place that could never really exist.  That combined with the writing, story, characters and overall style of the game (including the whole dynamic with the Big Daddys and Little Sisters) made the game feel more like a first person experience (much like the original Metroid Prime did) than a traditional shooter.  If all you want is a straight up shooter (ala Halo or COD) then yeah, Bioshock will disappoint in fulfilling that thirst.  But the last thing I'd call Bioshock is overrated.  That game totally owns this gen so far IMO (only Mario Kart DS and Uncharted 2 come close), with Infinite looking like the only game announced so far that could rival it.
