I think it´s awesome that GT5 i selling really well. I have been a bit wooried these last years that the racing games are far from as popular as they once were. Seeing GT and the Forza games selling well is only encouraging and should please everyone actually. Besides, the game is reeeeeeeally good, although Segas classic arcade racers are more my thing :).

It's already outselling GT4 in aligned launches:

5 weeks worldwide:

GT5: 4,621,505
GT4: 4,591,879

GT5 is completely destroying GT4 in the past few weeks, despite the weaker first week. I think this happened because a lot of people were confused about the release date, and advertising wasn't able to kick in as early as it was supposed to. In EMEAA, GT5's 5 weeks has already outsold GT4's 10 weeks.

I predict that GT5 will go on to outsell GT4 by at least a million. The strong momentum of the game should continue into early 2011, and this is all happening despite a very weak Japanese market. Europe is loving this so much. I think the reason for all this happening is that GT4 was produced at the height of PS2 piracy, and that PS3 piracy is still virtually non-existent.

Anyway, to all the people who thought GT5 would sell "below Forza 3 or GT5 Prologue", "just 5 or 6 million", those people who said "PS3 userbase is too small", "It has bad reviews", "Forza is the new king of racing", "GT is on a decline", blah blah blah blah blah...

(Btw, Forza 3 sales, heavily bundled, over one year later: 4,405,464)

Eat that.

You wonder its because PS2 had GT3 and GT4 and GT5 was the only one this gen (until this November). You could very well call it a gen over gen decline for IP sales.

Your Forza comment at the end......lol brag about sales all you want, but Forza took the quality crown since 2007. Eat that, as you said.

His comment is in 2011... lol

GT4 and GT5 is not a good comparison, GT4 released late in the consoles life cycle just like GT6 will, compare those two. GT5 should be compared with GT3.

lol that's make me laugh.

That still live today because it is true... and more GT is more quality game in simulator game than Forza... maybe in the next 10 years Forza games will have what GT games have today (or not because the next interaction is loosing features).

GT5 can be the second best selling GT ever in a 100m userbase... GT3 have a 150m userbase to be the best selling GT.

I think the comparision if fine and both did AWESOME.

They see GT rollin' and they're hatin'

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

GT is partnered with Top Gear in Europe. Thats all she wrote. That game is gold. Whatever flaws GT5 had will be fixed in GT6 for sure.

You can't actually prove that though. Metacritic is really all we got. But I can counter with  4/5 of the cars don't have proper outer and interiors as the premiums.....kills the sim factor if the poly counts are lower then what the competition uses.

I would appreciate it if you didn't have this really annoying smugness about this subject.
