to be perfectly honest i have a drink or two every few days.big difference is i don't drink to get drunk.if it doesn't taste good to me i don't drink it. i drink rum, absinthe, wine, and various mixed drinks. it hasn't ruined my life or even negatively impacted me in any way. as far as it being "too expensive", if you are in that boat then chances are you shouldn't be drinking anyway.  i can understand people complaining of those that go too far. then again same can be said of any vice as they all are damaging if they get out of control.

so as far as the poll is concerned...other: you don't have to drink to get drunk.

It makes people more fun at parties and more sociably acceptable. I just don't see why people would get drunk on their own though. *like some random drunk father*, i mean thats just stupid.

Is this thread for real, or did I just have a bit to much vodka for breakfest? Come on, Im all against alcoholism, but why drink? Why get drunk? Like ever? Lets talk after a couple of years when you will actually try it out and se for yourself whats all the fuss about.

Oh and weed, dont forget to try that out to, k?

Never! I will probably have wine (even so not much) and that's it. As far as getting a beer I must have someone pointing a gun at me and demanding me to drink one otherwise I WILL NEVER EVER. I will be here when I turn 21 and you'll see. I will make a thread about it as well informing everyone that I am still a beer virgin.

Point is, it's not something that can really be explained and answered to someone that hasn't had appropriate experience. People can explain the effect and why it's enjoyable, but unless you've experienced it, the answers aren't going to explain anything.

And yes, most drinkers do already know the negative effects of alcohol. It's drilled into us (in the UK at least) in the media all the time. It just so happens that most heavy drinkers don't care.

whispers to ear: "...but I'm in the United States"

Is alcohol education really that bad across the pond? Then again it must vary state by state...

Anyway, my personal experience of Americans is they don't drink very much and are actually more sensible than we are in the UK :P

No, the negatives of drinking are drilled into your head starting in highschool.  Then you have groups like MADD(Mothers Against Drunk Driving)  that place wrecked cars all over the place to show the effects of drunk driving.  There is plenty of education stateside.

Dude, are fresh off a high school health lecture?

Seriously, drinking isn't bad.

I know I'm going to damn well try it. I probably might even try weed or LSD.

Well, I tend to be an uptight and shy person, and booze elimates both of these qualities.

Procreation. If it wasn't for drinking, the birth rates in the developed world would be very close to zero by now.

We have a winner!

Someone buy this man a drink.
