Forums - General Discussion - If someone invaded your country would you fight back?

Kantor said:

I don't like to generalise, but Russia (the USSR) caused this whole Afghan mess in the first place.

You should really start to pay attention to history lessons. Learn about Britain's role in what you called 'Afghan mess' in XIX century, and in more recent times US role in Afghan War 1979-1989. Who funded Mujahideen and supplied them with weapon? Why in return it caused high death rates among Afghani people more rather than Soviet forces? When and how exactly Taliban was formed? Who was behind it and who's behind it now (here conspiracy theories start, but everything before that are well-known facts). Madame History is ironic b***h =)

So shall we continue our mutual accusations, or maybe we stop here? I still gonna win =)

This is why Palestinians have utilized EVERY possibility to attack Israelis.

1) Is a puppet government and occupation better than the Taliban or Saddam Hussein? Yes.

Is a puppet government and occupation better than a democratically chosen and fully accountable, liberal and capitalist government? No.

2) So, if somebody were to invade my country and turn it into Afghanistan, I might well fight. But it wouldn't happen, because countries like Britain aren't invaded.

1) Hypocrisy... it used so often, must be useful, I should try it out someday. Would you kindly ask Afghani or Iraqi people what's better for them? The answer might surprise you.

2) As if it never happened before? Actually it was and couple of times invasion was successful. Though you're right usually Britain ain't invaded, but instead invades other countries. Why do you ignore your own history? =)

//On related note, I'm surprised by a couple of 'fifth columners' here.

Says the Russian...

Yep, I'm Russian. Got a problem with that? =)

Nope.  It was the irony of your lecture about Britain's invasion history when your own history isn't any better than theirs.  Why do you ignore YOUR history?  Irony comrade.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that one of your nations finest, Mikhail Kalashnikov, gave the world the AK 47.  It is probably the most versatile, reliable gun ever created.  You've got that going for you.  (-:

It's quite simple.

The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan.

A Soviet puppet took control.

The US did not want Afghanistan going Communist.

The US supplied the warlords.

The US "won" the war and the USSR retreated.

The warlords banded together to defeat the Afghan Communists.

The warlords formed the Taliban.

The Taliban seized control of Afghanistan

The US invaded in 2001 and removed the Taliban from power.

Therefore, the situation was started by the Soviet Union.

Do not flatter us, we are nothing compared to your history of invasion and oppression. Your deeds only for last 30 years:

Invasion of Grenada

Invasion of Panama

Gulf War

NATO bombing of Yugoslavia

War in Afghanistan

Iraq War

etc.

And I'm not even talking about endless conflict on Middle East, where Israel ususally gains your support invading it's neighbours like in last Lebanon War, or South Ossetia War, escalated by your puppet on your money, trained and partly armed by NATO. There's even a precedent of English and American troops invading Russia btw. The good thing is that American army at the time was such a joke that even bolshevik's milita, known as RKKA, was able to kick you out during Shenkursk operation. Did you forget about that? I'm not.

But I'm not surprised, hypocrisy always has been a distinctive feature of your nation. Those who aren't hypocritical become eventually brain-washed, just look at Kantor: "NATO doesn't waltz into the happy lives of people living in democratic and stable countries, and take away all of their freedoms. They have no freedoms to begin with. Iraq and Afghanistan were both vile and oppressive dictatorships. Is a puppet government and occupation better than the Taliban or Saddam Hussein? Yes." - pure gold, worth Goebbels-prize for twisting reality. Well done! =)

@Kantor

Again, learn your history, google "The Great Game". Repent your sins!

Honestly I would fight anyone who invaded my country. Its not like a liberation force will come save us Canadian's from a dictatorship. In my opinion the Canadian Government and country is by far the best in the world. Now sure their problems but nothing that could justify someone invading.

But I think the warfare would likely go under ground. Guerilla warfare would happen in the forests and small town's and cities. Even if America invaded I think most Canadians including myself would give one hell of a fight.

Lol i live in lebanon so this question is like breathing air for me :P

OT: Fuck yeah! If someone or some country attacks your home or your land, i would go out and fight. and i believe it's everyone's right to do so, but unfortunately most are labeled terrorists just for the mere fact of standing up to something that's obviously wrong.

I mean you're practically building a siege around a small piece of land that is so densely populated and not allowing any food, water, medication or whatnot to pass through. fuck it, i know some of the things Hamas does is crazy, but wouldnt that drive anyone insane?! I dont like when civilians die no matter on who's side, but israel have done so many bad things to Palestine yet when one Israeli civilian is injured that gets the headlines as opposed to the hundreds of Palestinian children, women and innocent lives killed indiscriminately.

Such a shame we live in a world like this really

survivors are the ones who shape the future and write history. Dead fighters... are just laying in tombs.
