GT5 first week numbers. How do you think it did?

Great 154 29.73%

Good 178 34.36%

Average 85 16.41%

Not so good 46 8.88%

Disappointing 55 10.62%

Total:518

This franchise has legs, but yea I'm a bit disappointed, my last hope is that it gets adjusted up after PD's month update, and if their shipped copies update really shows that it sold this low (compared to my prediction), then I'll be even more disappointed. Sony should have made more ads, why do they suck so much when it comes to games adverts? O_o

I never expected it to do monstrous numbers so I think these are great.

Why did people think BF would have a huge impact on GT5's sales?Black Friday is about good deals...you buy stuff on high discounts...GT5 had no deal,it's a new game.If anything,I think BF actually hurt GT5's sales, since other games got the attention of the customers, for their low prices/bundles.

I've noticed the way Sony seems to be advertising games lately is that they let the game get really close to its release date then they start advertising and then after its out they advertise the hell out of it.

Well its GT, it supposed to have monumental legs, i'm not dissappointed, but i will be if it dosent sell well week on week, which is standard for a GT game.

OT,I think these are OK sales, but I'm pretty sure its undertracked by about 200k.Just a feeling.

Excellent for a racing game this generation, but poor for the franchise.

If it really did have almost no advertisment, then yeah, it's pretty good.

If it had good advertising, not so much.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

First week? Aren't these numbers for the first 4 days?

I was guessing 1.75m to 2.0 mill for first week so it did pretty much what I was expecting.  As I have said all along, this gen of gaming is all about the FPS (shooters in general) games.    And racing, platforming and a lot of other types of games simply don't sell like they used to or even should, this is why I estimated GT's sales to be 6-7 million lifetime and a lot of people laughed at me.  I still think GT5 will do those numbers if its bundled heavily, but if it isn't it may only do 5million.

I guess we will get a really good idea of what it will do in a week or 2.  We will have an idea of the games legs, but I am not holding out a lot of hope for it doing any more than 7 million.  And a lot of people who had those idiotic estimates of 10-20million will be eating wheel barrels full of crow which is unfortunate because I like GT5 and have owned all but a couple of the GTp games.
