Microsoft: Kinect is a bigger 'step forward' than the Wii

It's true 33 12.79%

No it's not 57 22.09%

Kinect has the potential to be the best 21 8.14%

Is this guy serious? 55 21.32%

Let's wait and see 28 10.85%

More trash talk what's new. 64 24.81%

Total:258

I would say that it does represent a bigger step than the Wii, I'm just not entirely sure it's the right step. I'm curious to see what issues/problems arise (if any) once it's released.

Bah!

I was playing Archery on PS3 and I could easily see it on the Wii (Which it is), but I can't even picture it on Kinect.

I see you could hold your arms like a bow and pull an arrow back, but since Kinect can't register finger movements, how would it know you release it? I can see how it can determine where you aim, but not how you hold the arrow and ultimately release it.

Kinect for me has too many question marks and I view it as a big step backwards.

Edit - Can Kinect easily detect you going from a closed fist to an open hand?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

In fact not only Sports Champions and Ps Move look like the imitations, but they really are the imitations.

And before you tell me to go to play with move, I already did at Gamescom 2010, kthxbai.

"kthxbai"? Really?

I wouldn't go with the word 'imitation' to describe Sports Champions...I would call it Improvement...But of course, this is personal opinion...I would even go so far as to say that I have Never played a Wii game that had Motion Controls as it's primary form of control that worked well...In My Opinion

Edit: If You can give me one game that works as well as, and you can get a similar experience to "Start The Party" (Which works really well as long as your camera is where it says you should put it) on Wii...Then we'll talk more on the subject, otherwise, you can keep calling it a copy or an "imitation" without good grounds

Are you talking about this brilliant game, which I refer as shovelware for its meta score?

Oh boy if you want games that challenge that, its gonna be a hard debate.

yes it is fresh but it's not gonna work with lots and lots of game
and it's not that fun when you don't feel anything with you when you are controlling something in a game feels more like an idiot when playing in such manner

LOL, priceless.

In terms of raw possiblities YES but innovation NO.  But then again at least M$ came up with something original unlike Sony's shameless imitation of the Wii!!!

It has a low metacritic score because it's a Party game...Start The Party...and doesn't really have a single player component...That doesn't mean it's a bad game, boy'o

Just waiting for that PS Vita to come out so I can play some full featured games on the go with that beautiful screen and control scheme...

Since when has R&D, tech Demo's ever count as a true product release?  It's like saying I had the idea for Windows, iPhone etc but I never got around distributing it!!! It's just lame, and besides Nintendo had been working on motion control pre-2001 as seen in their investment and collaboration with gyration inc which they had purchased a small minority share in during that tim "Unearthed: Nintendo's Pre-Wiimote Prototype". Gizmodo  so all that bull about Sony doing motion control before Nintendo is just that...all bull.  Even if Sony was researching motion control before Nintendo (they didn't)  R&D never accounts to anything unless they ACTUALLY RELEASE THE PRODUCT!!!  Just look at the hybrid cars right now Prius is known to mainstream as the first hybrid even though the Big 3 had the blu=print to the technology as Toyota had the kahuna's to release it first!!!

Sony started working on motion contorller in 2001, go look up on youtube and stop trolling

Oh my...please READ MY POST BEFORE RANTING LIKE A LUNATIC, and all will be clear!!!  Nintendo "RELEASED" it's motion tech which they had been working on pre-2001 in 2005-2006 a whold FIVE years before Sony released their copy the Playstation Move. Tech demo's R&D doesn't count unless you release the product therefore Sony imitated/followed Nintendo's footsteps in motion gaming!!!  Also regarding the Move being a bit more accurate, I certainly hope so as it would suck for Sony to release a copy/imitation of a Nintendo's tech with no improvements 5 years after Nintendo released their version!!!

I never said Sony released their motion controller before Nintendo, i said they started working on it on about the sime time nintendo started working on thier motion controller. Which means they already had an idea of motion controller and had plans to release it. Just because nintendo relesed it first doesnt mean they got the idea first. And since Sony already worked on their motion controller for awhile now, theiy released thier motion controller that THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON SINCE 2001, the same time Nintendo started working on their MC. Why dont YOU read my post before ranting like a lunatic????

Actually to be more precise they released their motion control concept plus added Nintendo's motion control concept (gyroscope, accelerometers etc) 5 years after Nintendo released theirs.  Sony only had camera tracking as motion control during that time!!!

plus just looke at how they look...blatant and shamless imitation!!! IF Sony ever acknowledged it maybe many ppl would not have the beef they have now.
