adsl 2 plus with 50gig limit just dropped from $79 AUST to $59 month , i live next to the test site for the Australian national broadband network (NBN) and we are next to be hooked up at the moment NBN  ISP's are offering 50 or 100MBS plans at  $50  a month but they recently said they can now offer  1gig a sec download plans but will only offer them for business and select customers who need/want extreme dl speed.

can't you get at least  a satellite connection

Some people can't even match my mobile phone internet which has 3.6 Mbs download speed with a fair use policy for 10 euro's a month... sadness...
