It's only new hardware from Nitnendo.
Probably nothing to be excited about at all.

so how are you guys going to assume that its going to be huge if you don't even know the name of the thing? atleast we should see some games, or something |
Let me get this straight, you were not excited to see the PS3 or any other hardware??? Of course I wanna see the games but first I want to see how it looks like, how it's going to work and what to expect from the device. I'm really hyped just to see it. Honestly the unknown only makes it better.
I think you need to understand the difference of being hyped to see new things and being hyped to actually go out, buy it and play it.
Having seen the Big Bang in action, it was nothing compared to the 3DS announcement. 3DS is going to change all of human history. It'll be like 3 DS's duct-taped together.
Well, it's the first 8th gen system, and it's Nintendo.
Nothing more.

I think what they're too lazy to say is that the last two major hardware releases from Nintendo have used some radical new ideas in how to build game hardware, and the results have been incredible new ideas in game design and faster unit sales than handheld or household console have ever seen before. Nintendo now has a track record on this, so many people are expecting Nintendo to go three for three on radical new hardware designs. In the terms of your thread title, people are thinking that the 3DS will recreate the big bang because Nintendo has already done it twice in the past decade. Nothing's set in stone, of course. Personally, I'm not sure if another revolutionary gaming idea has ripened enough for Nintendo to exploit it. But there is a track record, so expectations are high. |
However Track Records don't last forever... now you can always say nintendo has great quality games (for the most part) and the most popular games(currently), but their hardware GC and N64... were inconsistant with nintendo's other systems in popularity etc
like I mean, sony had a track record, with PS1+PS2, like NES SNES.... then sony made a boo boo just like nintendo
I guess me personally I don't get my expectations that high for anything. And plus, it's the games that matter... so obv, that should happen but cant' be sure like you said

and how do you know that? can you please make an honest answer isn't of the "yourz dumb so i'll just end diz thread" comments. |
Because Nintendo said so, on multiple occasions.
Because it's the successor to the DS. Not another iteration, but the actual next handheld generation. Any claims otherwise are factually incorrect.

@bolded.
honestly no , i didn't give a damn until games showed up.
@the other bolded
thats why i made this thread, i want to know why people are touting it as next generation and not thinking it as just a visual upgrade. (like 720-->1080p )
i am also not trying to ruin anyone's excitement here , i am just asking to know why everyone thinking its a next generation so i can be excited too. (i am repeating myself =s )
