I think what they're too lazy to say is that the last two major hardware releases from Nintendo have used some radical new ideas in how to build game hardware, and the results have been incredible new ideas in game design and faster unit sales than handheld or household console have ever seen before. Nintendo now has a track record on this, so many people are expecting Nintendo to go three for three on radical new hardware designs. In the terms of your thread title, people are thinking that the 3DS will recreate the big bang because Nintendo has already done it twice in the past decade. Nothing's set in stone, of course. Personally, I'm not sure if another revolutionary gaming idea has ripened enough for Nintendo to exploit it. But there is a track record, so expectations are high. |
However Track Records don't last forever... now you can always say nintendo has great quality games (for the most part) and the most popular games(currently), but their hardware GC and N64... were inconsistant with nintendo's other systems in popularity etc
like I mean, sony had a track record, with PS1+PS2, like NES SNES.... then sony made a boo boo just like nintendo
I guess me personally I don't get my expectations that high for anything. And plus, it's the games that matter... so obv, that should happen but cant' be sure like you said
