Forums - Sales Discussion - Which game will be a better system seller

GT5, people have been waiting for it

that is not to say that Halo Reach won't sell some systems and be a big game, but there has all ready been some Halo games this gen and because of that I think some people will hold off on buying it

I started making videos for youtube; check them out.

B4 I predicted which games would be compared, I knew GT5 would be one of them. The other game, Halo: Reach could be a really godo system seller, not as good as GT5 tho, but after looking at the ss's and game footge of reach, I can see a lot of halo fans and fps fans take soem serious interest in reach, both games look plain amazing in my opinion.

But it has been almost 5 years since GT4, I know GT5 is pretty much the most anticipated game so far.

Above I'm a proud Gran Turismo fan, not a Sony fanboy, and now a proud 360 owner, but sharing xbox live accts ATM

End of 2009 Predictions (made Jan 1, 2009): My predictions were pretty accurate, the 360 was over and the Wii was just under.

Wii: 65 mil (yea I'm crazy) 360: 35 mil (its getting there) PS3: 30 mil (the slim better do well)

End of 2010 Predictions (made Jan 7, 2010):

Wii: 81 mil  360: 47 mil PS3: 45 mil

GT5. There's 2 Halo games out already (not counting Wars), but there's no GT games out yet (not counting prologue cause its a demo).

My point is Halo fans have already bought 360's. GT fans may not have bought PS3's yet.

Neither, or rather, it won't be possible to tell. The people who want Halo: Reach got a 360 for Halo 3, and the people who want GT5 got a PS3 for the Prologue. One could still argue -especially in GT5's case- that these games were still responsible for a number of console sales before the game's release, but that can't be tracked with any accuracy.

Yeah, I know tons of people who bought a $500 gaming system for a Demo.

Oh, they bought it for GT5. But when you can start playing it (or a demo thereof) immediately, why wait for the full version? The entire story of this gen is one of people not waiting for their favorite games before buying the console, but buying it sooner -almost like an investment- and tiding themselves over with similar games until then. It's how Halo 3, GTA4, LBP, and the other big HD blockbusters have all failed to verifiably move significant numbers of consoles, and neither GT5 nor Halo: Reach will be any different. They sold their systems long before the games themsevles were released, and those sales can't be tracked.

Smart man.

Not to mention the iconic franchises also happen to be what the early adopters also covet.  So I believe that most of the first PS3 owners will also be the first to get GT5.

?
lol , but ppl saying this about gt5 are mostly 360 fanboys , is there anyone  not biased here??

gt5 will be a bigger system seller because it is the first full gt but lol at the people who don't think halo reach is not going to be a system seller. Halo Wars was an rts and thus doesn't attract the people who would enjoy the fps. Halo 3 Odst has halo 3 in its name so it was seen as an expansion. People wouldn't buy a console for that. But halo reach is the next full fps that happens to be the flagship franchise of the 360. It will be a bigger system seller then any ps3 exclusive other then gt5, because even if a small percent of halo fans haven't bought a 360 yet, that small percent is still a lot of people, plus people who have broken their 360's(a lot), might decide to buy a new one for the release.

39% of those who intend to buy GT5 do not yet own a PS3.

Let's say GT5 sells what the usual iteration sells (10mil) - that's 4 million consoles going to be shifted by the title...

I don't care what that stupid study says GT5 WILL NEVER move 4 million PS3's, it won't even move 1 Million, and it will be extremely lucky to move 500k PS3's

That aside I think GT5 will be a better system seller than Halo: Reach.

Gran Turismo 5 easily! it wont even be a contest. halo reach isnt even a system seller, theres about 5 other halos on the 360 already.

No there's 3 including Halo Wars which is a RTS

This is too simple GT5 will sell more systems because almost anyone who is a fan of Halo bought their 360 for Halo 3 or Halo Wars or ODST. Not many late adapters left especially since 3 sold more than any other.

GT but only because there hasn't been a real one this gen.

That's a bold statement, and I'm tempted to make a bet on it, but it's next to impossible to prove if the game increased sales as like someone else said, people aren't just going to buy the system the same week the game comes out.

Even look at 360 sales when Halo 3 came out, still pretty flat for the console side of things, and I went 2 months before and after:

As you can see, only 75,000 more sales from one week to the week that it came out

Also in this graph, you can see the month following the launch of Halo 3 consoles went from 11,598,786 to 12,420,567 a difference of 821,781 consoles.

I'll bet that the PS3 will move more than 821,781 consoles in the month following the launch of GT5
