That's a bold statement, and I'm tempted to make a bet on it, but it's next to impossible to prove if the game increased sales as like someone else said, people aren't just going to buy the system the same week the game comes out.

Even look at 360 sales when Halo 3 came out, still pretty flat for the console side of things, and I went 2 months before and after:

As you can see, only 75,000 more sales from one week to the week that it came out

Also in this graph, you can see the month following the launch of Halo 3 consoles went from 11,598,786 to 12,420,567 a difference of 821,781 consoles.

I'll bet that the PS3 will move more than 821,781 consoles in the month following the launch of GT5

Well yeah its gonna move a bunch of consoles the month following the launch of GT5, however i don't think it will sell more than 250k extra PS3's during the following month of GT5s release (meaning 250k more PS3's than it would have sold if GT5 wouldn't have come out)

That's why it's hard to track, even Halo 3 didn't move more consoles than 250k.. 360 sold 594,289 consoles before the launch and 821,781 the month after, meaning Halo 3 only moved an additional 227,492 consoles.

Granted depending on when GT5 releases it could very well sell more than 227k more sales the month after, if say it launched in Late october/Early November, as there would be a bunch sold due to christmas

Well there's no real way to tell how many PS3's GT5 will sell.  I just don't see 4 million people getting a PS3 simply because of GT5.  Maybe 1 million over its entire lifespan, but 4....no.

I own a ps3, but seriously i think halo reach is going to have much beastlier sales and move more 360s than gt5 can do with ps3s.

Well there's no real way to tell how many PS3's GT5 will sell.  I just don't see 4 million people getting a PS3 simply because of GT5.  Maybe 1 million over its entire lifespan, but 4....no.

I believe that's too low. GT5 will sell more than 1 million PS3s over time.

Well I imagine GT5 will sell about the same amount of hardware as Halo 3 did, and i'm pretty sure Halo 3 hasn't moved more than 500k Xbox 360's.
