Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Classic Nintendo games : why are they so expensive ?

as above^

im trying to gain the classic nintendo games from the gba era, ive noticed prices are very very high across the board

funny thing is i used to own all these back in the day, i should have kept them, fire emblem on gba now tops £40, games with the booklets and boxes are usually more.

2 games ive located, i basically waited for sunday morning to out-snipe ebay bidders and won, zelda nes classic gba boxed for £6

and zelda link to past gba boxed with manual for £6.50 :)

im pretty chuft with the 2 above. ^

others i will try to locate at reasonable price.

  • FF games including tactics
  • Fire emblem
  • zelda 2 nes classic
  • Mario advance games
  • Phantasy star twin pack.

so that leads me onto another question, right now are you likely to keep games you think will be future classics or do you trade them in?

why are they expensive?

good/great games become classics because no matter how HD new games look
these games still retain their value and are still fun games...and good games
sometimes better than all these HD games

that'w why they cost so much

they are worth more than most HD games

because they are worth it these days? lol

Because more people want to buy them than there are people willing to sell, at lower prices?

Which implies the games still hold high value to their owners well after release.

whats HD games got to do with it?

the bolded in red is amusing, do you not find HD games that are any good?

and of course the classic cart nintendo games are worth more than HD games there a hell of a lot older.

when the game finally stopped selling(they stopped making them), that didn't mean demand let up. theres still demand today for the classic marios, zeldas, and other games. heck, you can see this with just how much these decades old games are selling on virtual console.

these games have some friggin gargantuan legs to still be selling today.

come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=76669&page=1

you can view a few screenshots from the game in my photo album here; http://www.vgchartz.com/photos/album.php?album=2312

I LOVE ICELAND!

Are you kidding me? Why classic nintendo games are so expensive?

You gave us the answer: THEY ARE CLASSIC DUH!

Things which are classic worth more than "no classic" ones because they are not anymore under production.
It's pretty obvious, answer me Would you pay a high price for something that you can buy in another store?
No, because you know you can find it in another place; besides if you want to buy something that is hard to find you will pay more money, because there are only a limited quantity of those things and the company will not make more.

It's true, I'm trying to find the first Fire Emblem game released in USA, I've been looking for months, and can't find a copy with box and manuals at a reasonable price. I'm from Argentina and if the game is 50 dollars there, it's like 30 to 40 dollars to bring it here, so I'll end up paying 90 bucks for a used GBA game... :S

@spur

them 3 games you listed are very expensive. they may go for 30-40 cart only.

@Dxlink, quit the sarcy comments, i meant classic as in older games from yesteryear, dont ?DUH? me ever again!
