Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why Nintendo has ruined this gen for me

@Wiifans this guy is coming off as a little poumpous with that Mario statement, but he is dead on with the separation. Lets not delude ourselves here, most people that play the Wii Fits, and Sports and whatever are not playng anything else. I give Nintendo credit for pulling themselves from the brink and tapping into a good market. they certaintly havent got people to play games that normally wouldnt. I bought a Wii for my girl and Wii Fit and she uses it semi-regularly, does that mean she all of a sudden started playing Street Fighter with me or COD??? hell no, those games are still intimadating and strange to her and folks thats not going to change soon (i did get her to play Lumines for PS3 and she loves watching Wipeout HD)

So what if some people play Wii fit/sports and nothing else? What about the people that plays FPS and nothing else, or the people who plays nothing but JRPG's? You play what you enjoy, simple as that.

Galaxy wouldn't work as well on PS3 as wii. The motion controls are what make the game fun and its a experiance than can't work on PS3. Also the whole casual and hardcore split it a dumb phrase. What makes the 360 and PS3 more hardcore than wii?

have you not noticed the slew of quality titles that are released on 360 and ps3 all the time?

Have you noticed about 2 or 3 of them are really original with unique concept?

well, bottom line is no matter how you try to spin it, the biggest and best games are always released on the 360 + ps3.

the ONLY differentiator on wii, is thats its the only place you will find the top tier nintendo games. which so far have been, mario galaxy, brawl, mario kart, twilight princess, metroid

with soon to be released mario galaxy 2, the new zelda and new metroid.

so the points metioned above is why i have a wii, because its the only place i can play them games.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Calm down Nintendo Boys He makes come valid points. I would not say the Wii ruined this Gen, Play what you like, I will on my PS3. And no doubt these Wii games would be much better of an experience on the PS3, and there motion controller will be out soon, so look for it to make the Hardcore gamers happy with the Best of Both Worlds. Yes the truth Hurts.

What the hell are you talking about? The experience could be even better on the PS3. Online play, and downloadable content would make the game better. And casual and hardcore is not a dumb phrase. . Hardcore owners play thier systems alot, while as casual owners will casually play. Get it? its not that hard to understand. have you not seen how many hours people dump into games on the ps3 and 360?

I will never understand why anyone thinks paying extra for a game is worth it? (DLC)  Whoever would had made a Mario with DLC would just cut out the luigi parts, perhaps the story book, maybe even the shooting stars and made you pay 5-10 for each part. when it is what you should have gotten in the first place. Does every company do that? No, but we all know it does happen.  Online Mario Galaxy??? WTH would be the point  it is a single player game plus Wii has online that works fine. Yes, I will agree with Killeryoshis on casual hardcore phrases being stupid. It is a silly in that A lot of people enjoy many games, both types of games, and perhaps some would play more if they had time.

OT The only thing that ruined this gen for anyone is $$ plenty of great games for all systems no matter your taste.

So... because Galaxy is not on the PS3, Nintendo ruined this gen for you?

Let's blame Nintendo for being a market success and own the Mario IP while we're at it.

Lol at that info manipulation. We all understood what he was trying to say - Nintendo's (overpriced) casual console has been pwning the PS3 and 360 for 4 years. Sony and MS are now more focused on the casual market because Nintendo is swimming in money, that in my honest opinion, (now ignore my PS3 tag) they don't deserve... at all.

There's no way to know if we would be better or worse without the Wii. Unless you have a time machine, go back to 2006 and burn Nintendo's headquarters. If you have one, please PM me, I have no idea where I left my wallet D:

Did....

Did you just ID yourself with Sony?

Do you work for them or something? Cause other wise, thats the strangest thing I've ever heard.

I will never understand fanboys identifying themselves with a company that make $$ out of them...

That is unless you work for Sony; then my bad.

Can we stop with these Wii-hate threads?  All of the PlayStation fans I know in real life (including myself) would never resort to tall this online poo-flinging.  What the heck it up with some of these threads?? All of the Nintendo fans I know in real life (also including myself...yes, I know myself) too could give a rat's ass what other people think about the Wii and its lack of "hardcore" appeal.

Just enjoy your damn systems!

(And for the record, IMO the PS3 has a superior library of games than the PS2 did....and also if the person who started the thread wants Super Mario Galxy, get a freaking Wii...

... same for Nintendo fanboys...if you want HD graphics, get an HD console.  Monster Hunter 3 and SMG are benchmarks for the system, it DOES NOT have any hidden juice. So STOP dreaming.. get over it!)

We = gamers m8 :p

@ forest-spirit way to miss the point, those Wii Fit players wouldnt know a Duke Nukem from a Master Cheif (nothing wrong with that) those are not video game players I put WII gamers in 3 categories casuals (my girlfriend, aunty, grandma who have never touched a controller, ever) gamers (me, i like games in general, all genres) and hardcore/fanboys(eat, breath, suck off Nintendo) the casuals make up 60% of WII audience, 30% gamers, 10% hardcore.

(understand, im not trying to put anyone down for playing those games, but Wii FIt is geared toward a specific audience, its like the new exercise bike)

Actually I can understand why various people find the casual and core terms flawed as this is determined by habits not by the games you buy, I know people who play games like Wiiports Resorts quite frequently and buy such games quite often as well as people who buy the odd game every now and then which sometimes are your COD MW2s and only play it once in a while. Effectively this makes the Wiisports player more core then the latter, a game may be geared towards a specific audience but it doesn't mean that only a casual will buy and play it.

Being core has nothing really to do with knowing your Halo's or Duke Nukems it's more down to gaming habits, you can be core and strictly enjoy more casual games tbh, you can be classed as casual even if you're only playing Halo and such because your gaming habits are quite light.

So? Does it make the system any worse?

Galaxy is fine with what it is. There is no absolute need to put online or DLC. This is NOT a standard, and some people need to get it.

And how on Earth can you report me for such little thing I said! Too sensible?

Also I think nintendo ruined this gen because just imagine how good super mario galaxy would look and play on the ps3! It'd be a  breathtaking experience. However due to the limitations of the wii we can only experience great games NOT excellent games from nintendo this gen...

It would look marginally better, yes. It would, however, not play one iota better -worse, in fact- and therefore it would not be as good of a game. There is nothing preventing the Wii from having excellent games, other than certain devs' desires to focus on pretty pictures instead of the things that matter.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

@guiduc LOL are you kidding right now??? because Mario is such a fresh and original concept. "you get on Yoshi's back this time" groundbreaking!!!!!

@wyrdness I have to agree wit u, I love the PS brand buy Sony has said and done some if the dumbest things this gen, followed by MS and if Nintendo is bout to join them if they dont get that Reggie idiot to shut up

His games are fresh and original like Galaxy was.

Your games must be groundbreaking!
