Forums - Microsoft Discussion - MW2 Stimulus Package sells 2.5 milionl in the first week

The apathy of being ripped off has now become bigger than crack, we need to take money out of the drug war to solve this problem.

Damn apparently people can't buy whatever they want anymore these days without people throwing insults.

I bought the maps and I think it was worth the money and I don't feel ripped off, but that's just me.

the only reason this bothers me is because it is a siren for future big games to make dlc more expensive since it will still sell. If you like COD MW2, then I don't see why its a bad deal.
I think they made a mistake waiting so long to put them for sale though. If they had been put a month or two earlier I have a feeling the sales would have been far higher. For example me and pretty much all my friends with 360s have stopped playing this game but if it came out while we still liked it we would have all bought it. I'm sure there are many others like that, especially due to the addictive nature of the multiplayer customization that makes many people play it way to long each day and makes the game get old pretty quickly.

Stimulus Package sells over a million day one and 2.5 million in the first week. Definitely looks like that advertising paid off. Microsoft must be thrilled too, looks like it was a great move getting this on LIVE first, nevermind it being a $15 map pack instead of a $10 one.

i dont see how this makes the 1 month exclusivity a 'great move' i can see no reason why the 2.5 million people would not have bought the pack had it released on PC/360 at the same time plus Microsoft would have made more profit

Will the selling power of this game ever stop to amaze me O_o ?

Will the stupidity of the buyers ever stop to amaze me? 15 bucks for 3 new maps? You can have 2 great XBLA games for that price...

You fail to understand this is additional content for a game they already love and they'll continue to spend many hours on.

The best selling XBLA arcade game is also a multiplayer war shooter.

BF 1943 is not the best selling XBLA game yet. Castle Crashers sold more.

Although BF 1943 probably made more revenue.

And who cares if it is? Shooting games > All genres

People willingly dish out $15 for three maps and two remakes, and then they wonder why Activision acts the way they do.

I wonder how the former heads of Infinity Ward are feeling right now.

I think the approach to DLC is wrong.. DLC should be free and should be used by developers as an incentive to purchase the game instead of getting a pirated copy.

Damn...so were looking at about 60 000 000 $+ made in one week,if we add the PS3 sales...
Like...what God of War 3 did in its first week lol
Sad.

Damn...Activision was right about the power of MW...also guess those rumors about the demise of MW2 to BFBC2 were unfounded.

It makes me sad to think that 2.5million people were foolish enough to waste $15 on a map pack that should of barely been $10....

Whats worse is that i have a feeling that next year's map pack will be $20 and fools will still buy it and claim its worth it... well unless Activision is able to speed up development and release 7 CoD this year to kill of the franchise like they did with Guitar Hero.
