Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Greenberg: PS3 Browser 'An Absolute Nightmare', No Future 360 Web Surfing

Director of product management at Microsoft, Aaron Greenberg has said that the PlayStation 3's web browser is 'an absolute nightmare' and that the Xbox 360 will not be getting its own browser.

Greenberg was asked - in the latest issue of EDGE magazine - whether 360 gamers will get the chance to surf the web from their console, as it's simply one of the more obvious features that the platform hasn't got.

"No, we really believe that the web browsing experience on TV is a poor one, and the real magic is to take those web experiences and optimise them for the living room" he said. "That's what we did with Netflix. So, sure, you can go on the PS3 and go to Facebook and and try to navigate, but it's an absolute nightmare."

"No disrespect, there's things I love about the PS3, but that's not one of them." he continued. "We want the online experience to be fun and optimised for the living room, and we'll continue to add more applications to get more richness"

So don't expect a Xbox 360 web browser any time soon, but we would guess that a few new applications will be unveiled at the E3 conference in June.

Aaron Greenberg doesn't sugarcoat anything.

It does suck pretty hard.

And it's just as well they're not adding one to the 360. I can't even fathom using Internet Exploder with a gamepad.

I would love to know what he likes about the PS3, he is allways spewing poison on anything not Xbox, so his statement has little value.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

Well its kinda depressing to hear him totally dismiss it but at the same time everyone has a PC and its so much better for browsing the internet anyways

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

He likes the fact that it's in third place.

Heh yeah, that was the only thing that come into my mind.

Awww, yeh I agree..

It's a "nightmare" to not have a feature that lets you surf the net for free in your console, specially if you pay...

the ps3 browser is crap compared to a pc browser, but for basic browsing it fits the bill.

ie your stuck on a game, exit out, launch browser and goto gamefaq then go back in game, so it does have its uses i use it everyday

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

its not really the PS3's fault though, they need a firefox support and it will be fine.
plus from my experience, Microsoft's Internet Explorer is a nightmare turned real but since Greenberg is microsoft i don't think he can say that
