Please no. Sunshine was the worst Mario game ever conceived.

I can see them doing it (SNES Mario's on GBA, and Mario 64 ended up on DS), but I wouldn't want to buy it.

Lord, no! I don't hate Sunshine but it's about time that Nintendo deliver an original 3D Mario for one of their handhelds.

No, either A Pokemon Game or Super Mario Bros 6 is more likely for 3DS launch

 

A sidescrolling Mario would be the better choice for a launch, just make it pop out of the screen

while they've consistently done mario remakes on the handhelds like you've said, i think if they need a launch remake that'll attract buyers (and definitely make me buy it day 1), let it be an ocarina of time and majora's mask collection.
Unfortunately this definitely won't advertise it's graphical strengths (then again who knows if it could deal w/ gamecube games) I'd rather see a brand new 3d mario made at launch instead of a remake like someone else posted.

3D Mario would be a bad idea, unless its kind of a 3D version of a 2D Mario

Luigi's Mansion 3D would be a nice launch title.

Just imagine the ghosts trying to escape out of the screen while being sucked by the vacuum!


Imagine the game running in flat 2D almost of the time and the ghosts would appear in 3D out of the screen! Priceless!

Also, for horror games this might be a nice feature.

A flat 2D game that from times to times pulls out of the screen a fugly face to scare you!
