Switch time and time again keeps smashing it in software sales with a relatively small user base. I've been thinking about your overlap theory ever since you brought it up. You've made a believer out of me.

If you want to know more about Bloodborne's story, let me know. It's something I took a deep interest in when the game came out, and did a lot of personal research on to piece together. And *that* is why I like it. It's the difference between buying a painting and buying a puzzle. They both display the same image, but one demands you earn it.

see your point.., good example by the way.

Since I actually like discussing these things, and find you more reasonable my reply to you:

One thing, people do factor the price of gas mileage and in general energy intake in making a car purchase, or maybe everyone I know does, oh well. Same with features and options of the car.

That aside, in regards to value, that is up to beholder, but realistically PC accomplishes a lot more than the ps4 does, thus the costs associated with it obviously would be higher, if it was not than you might run into some problems. Value is also on the ps4 side as well, otherwise everyone would be still gaming on last generation and it would not be one of the more successful consoles, and potentially the most profitable console to date. The bias of the op is apparent, since honestly this is a night and day comparison.

Also I did mention hidden costs on all fronts, not one front (PC has hidden costs as well). I can think many hidden costs on both sides. Opportunity costs, waiting period on certain games. You also have different variety of options and choices.

I completely agree with you. The PC is capable of doing so much more. But thats also the issue. If I am in the market for a gaming device primarily, I'm not interested in all those other things I can or could have done with the PC.

At that point, all that matters for me is what kinda gaming I'm getting for my money.

There is a saying from where I'm from, if you find yourself talking about all the other reasons you need something for to justify its price, you probably are already spending too much.

I understand the using only gaming, which I can still see the benefits of both and the price associated with both PC and a console. Arguably the biggest is just simply control on PC (setting, mods, etc).

It is about ultimately what the consumer wants and is willing to pay for that, which creates the value,

People that normally compare PC to Console are actually being more defensive about their product not being top tier, usually it is console user more than the PC side, given I have seen PC users be just as defensive, since they did arguably spent a lot on PC.

I prefer consoles, due to ease of use, and am willing to accept higher costs of gaming in general at times for that.

I think it has a lot to do with the decline of the Xbox Brand and how they basically shot themselves in the foot at the beginning of this generation. Plus I imagine one of the huge draws being Local Multiplayer being taken out (might have been not in reach) hurt a couple of my friends interest in it.

Honestly they did themselves in, and that is why that franchise had a decline.

Is the market ready for a $500 console yet?

in Gaming Discussion 1 day ago

OTBWY said: I don't think this price has ever been attractive. It seems to me the right pricing most consumers are willing to take the leap for is 400. If you really want to be honest the right price is actually $299.  However, its clear that at $399 the current gen consoles did better in 2013-2016 than last gen consoles did at that same price. I think the market is read for...

They're getting really desperate to sell it as something revolutionary when it's a mere simple hardware upgrade.
