If MS was clever they instead of having Scalebound's cancellation hanging over their head, they would be better off coming to terms with Nintendo and Platinum were they co publish the game on Switch, they at least gain something viable from the IP, they should make a statement saying they and Nintendo are partnering to bring the game to Switch, that way they maintain control rather than letting these rumors go on and on or worse seeing a Scalebound game whether it's called that or not on Switch with no involvement from them.

Nintendo wouldn't go through with such a thing not to mention Kamiya had a falling out with MS' higher ups over how they kept interfering with the game so PG wouldn't be keen on MS as it is. It would be better for Nintendo and PG to use the Scalebound name to make their own version following the original intended vision.

I agree with what your saying , but my assessment is from what I see best for MS minus a backlash from some fans,t hey  basically leave it up to Nintendo and Platinum to make the game but in return for clearing all legal avenues and handing over assets  they co publish , like you said the ball would be in the Nintendo Platinum court and they may have a new vision for the game story and character and design wise since they would be the only assets of interest related to Xbox . Then again if you don't try you get nothing so they might as well negotiate.

Buzz and hype created out of potential controversy. If it is scalebound, this is a clever move.

Doubt it highly.

It would be weird to use the name. They might as well make a new game with a new name.

Here is a link to the trademark.

If, and that's a big IF, this is true. As it has been stated previously, it would probably the original game concept before MS got involved with the game.

The name will probably change just to avoid any confusion even though they don't have to change it.

It's probably Kamiya's way of giving MS the finger.  Make the game the way he wants, plus use the same name so they know.  And it'll be even more sweet for him if it's a success, as it would prove to that he was right about what the game should have been in the first place.

Xbox fans wouldnt be happy thats for sure.

Speaking as an Xbox fan, assuming this is all true...

In one way it feels MS dropped the ball on this game. However, the game isn't necessarily a great fit as a Xbox exclusive either so I could kinda understand why MS would give up on it. I mean the likelihood of this being a profitable game for Xbox always felt low, whether or not the critics enjoyed it.

If this game has to be exclusive, Switch or PS4 makes more sense. The best case scenario would be its a game Xbox and Switch are sharing.

One thing is for sure, if it is in development, we won't see it for years. Up until a few weeks ago Platinum's 206 devs were developing 4 different games; Astral Chain, Bayo 3, Babylon's Fall, and Granblue. Platinum finished their work on Granblue just a few weeks ago, so maybe that team is now moving on to work on a Scalebound reboot, but if that is the case I wouldn't expect to see it release before late 2021 or 2022, as they would need to start from scratch since MS owns all existing Scalebound assets.

Astral Chain is slated to release at the end of August, perhaps work on it is mostly done and it is that team is moving on to this.

Or the game is just not called Scalebound and in fact uses the original premise of a girl and her dragon when the game was intended as a wii exclusive.

Nintendo is not going to involve MS in the slightest.

LIke I said before , Nintendo and Platinum may have a new vision or like you stated go back to the original , it's just  playing with hypotheticals and mine has to do with MS approaching the others being their best option with the emphasis on MS that's why I ended with if you don't try you get nothing, then again my ideal would be for  a reality TV show called Who's Scalebound is it anyway. the contestants building the game each one wanted. with each week having contests like surviving a real life donkey kong level, with prizes like extra staff, development money etc and penalties like having to fit in and make it seamless, Kojima  scripting 30 min of your game without him knowing what it is about, the show would be a ratings winner and the winning game would surely be the greatest Scalebound ever at that point in time.
