Rumor: Scalebound resurrected as a Switch exclusive (Updated)

Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumor: Scalebound resurrected as a Switch exclusive (Updated)

Platinum games output has been very good for Nintendo over the last 5 years making Retrostudios look like a joke, on the other hand Nintendo has not invested much into popular western game genres like FPS, which seems odd they never tried to replicate the success of GoldenEye 007 (on the N64).

I think Nintendo must of made a decision to avoid making games with realistic violence ever since GoldenEye 007, Eternal darkness being the only exception i'm aware of.

Anyway wouldn't be surprised if this turns out true as gameplay is what matters first to Nintendo, so taking Scalebound's gameplay mechanics and re-purposing them is one of Nintendo's strengths

Well the timing of the rumor is interesting (or a very good troll who knows how to time things).

Recently we learnt that XBOX live access with be available on the Switch. Perhaps Microsoft were willing to give up something in return for that collaboration from Nintendo to allow it. That something being something that Microsoft don't care about aka Scalebound.

Will be interesting where this rumor leads lol.

Pretty big if true, doubt it though. MS would have to actually sell or demand something else from Nintendo and would either party want that

What about Nintendo allowing Xbox live service on the Switch, that's a pretty big deal. Could Scale bound have been used as a deal sweetener?

Pretty sure that was just about a universal cross-play feature on shared multiplats.

That game would have been perfect dark.

You ms hypothetical doesn't really make much sense though.

At least i don't see how it benefits them in any way

If this isn't just a rumour Scalebound  coming out on Switch in whatever guise that may be isn't a good look for MS at the very least it adds to the impression  that it was MS who failed not Platinum and if it is anything but a bomb it makes it even worse and also pretty much kills off any hope MS had of returning to the IP themselves,  so just like in most things being involved in an outcome usually bears more fruit than sitting in the outer , and like I said if you don't try you don't know.

The only ppl who would actually care are forum dwellers who will make a bigger thing out of it then it really is. Even if your scenario comes to play, it won't affect MS in any real way.

Regardless, most ppl already blame MS for Scalebound being cancelled, and we already know that Platinum had some issues working with MS on the game. So what difference does it make now? you are talking about a sentiment that already exists around the game.

MS doen't need the IP, they just need the ownership to the actual in game assets, which they do and which I doubt they will give up to anyone else.

I´ll just repeat what others are saying and yeah, Nintendo might as well just buy Platinum at this point.

I felt MS made everything to make the game the most online as possible. Maybe this didnt fit on the game, or is difficult to work in this game, idk.
Maybe on nintendo, they can develop the concepts without MS demanding some aspects of the game, the game can work and actually release.
But still, hard to believe.
Id like to see it releasing on xbox and switch, though. xbox owners that hyped the game on their platform (myself included) deserve it. (although, at this point, I would get on switch)

This is a nothing burger rumor.
