Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wolfenstein 2 on Switch is a good product if you don't care about resolution...

I have an X1 and its somewhat common to see games around or below 720p (60 fps games generally), but it just happens for a moment and they use techniques that really clean up the presentation.

Wolfenstein 2 on Switch though really pushes well the beyond the limits of what I consider acceptable for resolution. Maybe they didn't compromise enough on assets and effects.

"We pixel counted a wide variety of shots from the docked mode, and came up with a whole host of results. Everything ranging from a top end of 720p to 1216x684 to 540p and 432p all the way down to 640x360. When played in portable mode, 768x432 and 640x360 are common pixel counts, but it can increase from there depending on load. In general, it's comparable to the Switch version of Doom but seems to scale towards the low-end more often. There's no getting around it - this really is a very blurry game."

The first a screenshot from Switch docked, it would likely be blurrier undocked. The second shot is from X1X.

Its interesting to see what Switch can do, but maybe its better to port games to Switch that actually hold up well. Like... Skyrim.

Hey if people buy and enjoy it, I don't see any harm. Multiple people have commented that the game looks good in handheld and the Digital Foundry guy said it is the best looking mobile shooter.

I am an image quality whore, so I will wait until the price drops or buy the PC version. But I enjoyed Doom on Switch, even after playing the PC version, so maybe I will like this.

So in portable mode you get resolutions equal to PS2 games? Ok.

Screenshot comparison is a big difference, but we're comparing 720p with 4k. Of course it's going to look hilariously different!

Pretty sure the last of us on ps3 at 720p looks better

Great results for a mobile effort with those levels of dynamic visuals.
Absolutely horrendous results for docked mode whichever way you cut the cake.

I think they should have leveraged baked lighting and shadowing for a performance uptick at the cost of development time... And then boosted that resolution.
640x360 is pretty bad and not what I would ever consider acceptable in the modern era.

I mean, very few people actually push the idea of the game being anywhere near the PS4X1 versions. It is a passable alternative to play the game on the go if for some reason you decide to have no console other than a Switch.
It's only here people are trying to deny a claim no one is making.

It mainly shows the problems that the Switch will have in getting ports of this nature, as time goes on even the PS4 and XB1 are struggling to keep up, which means it'll get even harder for the Switch.

panic button have done a great job in all of their work so far. great to see what they've done here.

The best looking portable FPS I recall was Killzone Mercenary for Vita it looked good on the original oled screen running in Vita's native res , so I wouldn't mind seeing how the more demanding Wolfenstein on Switch plays and compares.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

Wolfenstein is graphically impressive, but I think that a less-intensive game that could lock at 60FPS and 720p while undocked would look really nice, I wonder if Metroid Prime 4 will be like that.
