What these two 2D Mario did for Wii U? Can the Wii U problem not be only software?

First, I was kidding. Second, I'm not sure I get what you are saying. Are you trying to say the Wii U has other problems that aren't related to SW? If so... uh, yeah. It does, I agree. Including price and marketing.

LoL that is even worse than to discontinue it... Talking about a slow death.
And the 2nd sentence is wishful thinking IMO. Look at the PS Move and how well this optional input device did. And that was $149 less than a Vita. And how many PS4 will be sold in the first year? Let's be ridiculously bullish here and assume 20 million consoles sold in 12 months and not a single one of them owns a Vita yet. What percentage of those users will buy a $249 controller for a $399 console? 10%, 15%? So we are looking at 2 - 3 million additional Vitas at the very very very best scenario. I think the Vita won't get any real software support as soon as late 2014. In other words, my prediction is that the Vita will be basically dead in 18 months from now. *disclaimer* I am not trying to piss anyone off! This is MY prediction and you are free to disagree. Please don't ban me for this. |
But Vita will likely still get Japanese support, so it'll become a haven for JRPGs, Strategy, and Action games like the 360 was for SHMUPs and VNs.
Also, it's not difficult to do PS3/Vita versions of games, unless you don't consider that real software support.

I didn't get the joke... sorry.
Yeah... I was talking about that... first I think the name of the console used in the marketing generate more confusion than help Nintendo... I asked for some casual that have the Wii (they are not gamers) about the Wii U and most of them said "I already have a Wii"... I tried to explain the better things of Wii U but they said they like to play Mario Kart in Wii and if there are something like?.
Wii U is a bad name... Wii 2, Wii HD or another name should be a better option... most people things the Pad is an accessory for Wii lol
After that the price... I agree again... the price is too high for a casual console and the console don't have the biggest appeal with hardcore (not yet... laks software support... today even first-party title to not get into the weak third-party support).
And I my personal... hardware... not the specs... the gamepad... it is not something that get attention like Wii Remote did... it is not a new controller that show anything revolutionary (the casual people is using iPads when siting in front of the TV for years already... my ex-girlfriend did that... the iPad stays always near the couch.
So the gamepad didn't help too.
Eveything combined makes the Wii U a console not attractive to buyers... markething, price, software and hardware choices.
PS. A lot of what I wrote fits with Vita too lol... and Vita have a little more "problems".

If the Vita-debacle told us anything, it's that console games don't work on a handheld. Well they work technically, but nobody in the real world cares about those. CoD, Resistance, Assassin's Creed, Little Big Planet, Uncharted, Ridge Racer, Metal Gear Solid HD are already released and they did not move any hardware at all. That's why I am not too optimistic about Killzone for PSV either.
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Eh, but CoD and Assassin's Creed bundles did move a lot of hardware. Both games sold much better than anyone expected.
Uncharted is also nearing a million physical sales (using VGC, and with digital it's way over). While Resistance and Ridge Racer flopped, I don't think all of those games support your argument.

At the end of the day we have 7 franchises that used to be pretty big IPs for consoles and another one on the way and the the userbase is still around 5 million for a device that was released 1.5 years ago.

Actually lack of a Eshop is not helping things at all.. and yes this is below average for The Wii U.. but not so much that I am worried yet.. especially.. with a boost just reported in Japan for July.. and the boost most likely coming to America in August... and beyond.. I am not worried.. all Nintendo has to do is solidify it's line up.. and it will get a boost.. plus to be honest.. for a system that most people consider only has one true app to purchase.. what did you expect... it was going to be bad... and actually.. I think it's doing better than say Sony.. or Microsoft could have.. with just one exclusive seller app.. so nope not worried.. not expecting better numbers out of America till August.. but I think July will see a return to average.. or maybe better..
Nintendo Wii by generations...
1. Wii
2. Wii U
3. Wii O U
Predictions made by gamers concerning the current Nintendo line up of games.
Pikmen 3= Little Bump to nothing. (Got Little Bump)
Wind Waker HD= Won't sell anything (The explosion happened here and at one time 4 Wii U games was in the Amazon top 100)
Super Mario 3D World= Won't help at all looks cheap. (Currently the most sought after Wii U game and continuing the Wii U increase.)
Did we ever get to the bottom of why Major Nelson posted 155k for 360, btw? Seems like an odd mistake to make.

I slept early yesterday so I was guessing somebody showed that ... Major Nelson posted a new tweet 50 minutes after the first one.
