Sometimes (but not all the time) collector's editions of games are available at Gamestop for exactly the same price as the regular version weeks, if not days, after launch. That's how I got my Gears of War collector's edition!

Preordered RE:4 (gamecube) to get the collectors edition, but other than that I've never preordered anything in my life. It means you have to queue up twice, and you can never be absolutely sure that a company wont delay or mess up a game even close to release. I'll only do it if there's some preorder bonus

Sometimes. At the moment I only have Bad Company 2 on preorder.

The only advantage for me is that I get the game on release date even when I order it from England. (which I always do)

I don't preorder, I usually have a lot of games to play in my to do list, and I need to coordinate some friends, because we need to make a somewhat big order because I import the games to my country, and you can save a lot by ordering 5 or 6 games instead of just 1.

Though I do preorder from other sites if the preorder price is in my buy range for games I want (got MW2 for £22, tatsunoko for £18 and I have AVP at £17 on preorder...was gonna preorder BC2 at £22 but the site didn't let me as I have a french IP.... worked last time though :/)

I preorder games that are going to sell, but won't sell big. LIke with Professor Layton and the curious village, I didn't preorder and every shop was sold out for a month, they only got a few copies at a time. I preordered the second and I got it day one, I noticed that didn't have any extra copies when I picked mine up

I preorder almost everything. More you preorder, the more copies the company buys from the publishers, so always a good idea... especially for the smaller releases.

I pre-order only if it is a game that is big enough that I know it will go out of stock. I live in a metro area so popular games sell out very quickly around where I live. I will only pre-order if I don't have to pay until day of pickup though. That way I can cancel it if I need the money for something else.

I pre-order any game I intend to buy day 1; I have a horrible memory, and between work, the wife and the boy, I'd never remember when all the games I'm interested in come out. So I pre-order and gamestop calls me. Easy enough.

Recently (Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2); it's resulted in some free DLC to start the game with too. Cool.

I pre-order games I'm really hyped for. Sometimes you get a bonus, but usually I do it because its kind of a pain to get to a Gamestop and I want to make sure they have a copy for me if i make the trip.
