Forums - Gaming Discussion - Bad experiences with gamestop?

I bought Tekken 6 (.....meh) the other day from Gamestop and the cashier would not stop pestering me to subscribe to Gameinformer. I told this dude no like 1000 times, and everytime he'd be like "Oh, well you get a discount" "Are you sure? I mean, it's a great deal...." "A  gaming magazine that makes your games cheaper, come on bro"

I don't know if he was trying to be funny but I was ready to punch this dude in the face.

2nd, My brother pre-ordered a copy of Madden 09 (I hate Madden) once, but they sold so many copies the day the game was up to buy, they decided to sell the pre-ordered copies...............I hope to god they were fired for that.....

Ive never had a problem with Gamestop... But thats cause im friends with lots of the employees and they give me discounts on used games and stuff :)

Long Live SHIO!

No, I never had a problem. I love the store. The store makes me feel so good. So many games to choose from.

I'm probably never shopping there again. Every single one I have been to the guys who work there are pretty much gaming snobs and think they know everything about anything video games. They always try to convince me not to buy games that I really want to play. They might be trying to be nice but they way they come off when they say it pisses me off.

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

I hate gamestop with a passion, first off, I hate how they feel the need to plaster stickers all over games games and my local gamestop puts them right on the artwork instead of the plastic. second off they are overpriced and they rip off people trading in games. I actually had a gamestop employee tell me that they were working on a port of halo 3 to the PS3 lol. I buy new games now either from ebay or amazon and all used from ebay

-Saw a Salesman tell a woman that she needed to buy a cooler or the PS2 she bought could burn down her house.

-bought Ape Escape 2 and when I got home, I had Ape Escape Pumped and Primed

-bought Condemned and when I got to the car, I they had somehow swapped my real Condemned case for the case of some PS2 game.

-Had some 12 year old kid go to every section I went to, immediately after I went there and sigh (I guess my presence was really annoying him).

-recieved store credit for a game I didn't even own (which was awesome!)

-got into a huge debate over whether I should buy Bloodrayne for the PS2 or Gamecube. He said "PS2". I said "Gamecube". The correct answer was "Don't buy Bloodrayne at all".

-traded in several AAA Snes games (including Chrono Trigger, Super Metroid, and Super Mario RPG) for store credit. I used the credit to buy Wu-Tang Clan, Roll Cage, and every single shitty Tomb Raider game, ever.

-tried to buy Freedom Fighters for the Gamecube. The guy went to the demo Gamecube that some kids were playing, pulled the game out of the system, put it into a case, and tried to sell it to me as "new". I left the store.

-that's all I can think of, but I'm sure there were more.

Just start making it really awkward for him, he'll stop talking to you.

Any of these questions will shut him up:

  • Do you ever look down and admire your own work after going to the bathroom?
  • I am the master of my own physical and mental realm, are you?
  • So what's your favorite porn site?
  • Can I preorder Battletoads for the PS2?
  • Do you feel comfortable badgering the son of a high powered lawyer?
  • Can I buy you a spatula?

They must all be in a loud booming voice or they won't work.

Only some members of the site who work there and think they know everything cause they work at gamestop... >_>

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I only buy games from Best Buy, Amazon, and Meijer. I stopped buying at Gamestop because I was told when I was picking up uncharted 1 back in 2007 from a pre-order that I should trade in my PS3 while I can because Sony is going out of business and my console loses value everyday. I was also told that most Sony exclusives will be ported over after the console is taken off the market. So it has been 3 years since I shopped in that place, and I have been happy ever since.

nah, I've only been there like 2 or 3 times when I traveled to USA, but when I compare them to my local game stores, it's the paradise..... in my stores they don't have nsmbwii yet!!!!
