EVERY game that has a big week 1 has big anticipation behind it, so what? lol

FF13 doesn't need to come close to GTA's opening numbers as the franchise never opened to such numbes in the west, that isn't expected of it

lol why are you making all these jabs?

I know you don't like JRPG's, but accept it, a huge one is on the horizon & it WILL be ahead of 99% of these FPS's & TPS's in terms of sales.

FF13 already has 1.4 million opening week from Japan. Another 1 million from NA + EU is possible. About 50:50, I would say.

But as Darth said, if not second, then definitely third: It needs to sell some 300k first week in the West to beat MGS4.

Unless you meant PS3 exclusive. Which is I believe MGS4 with 700k in NA and 1,7m WW. I can see it beating that, at least in NA and Eu, no way in Japan.

Wow by this chart Heavy Rain is getting no hype. Just as I suspected that game will not sell well.

I'm not sure I trust this chart. The Ps3 version of so many games being ahead of the 360 one strains credibility.

The fact that halo reach is even on the list so far ahead of its release should mean that overall its going to have a huge amount of pre-orders. You cannot say reach isn't doing well. Its doing fantastically.

Really? i dont think it is. for the simple fact one is well-known ww and the other is held up by word of mouth alone.

How is Halo:Reach doing bad? It's not releasing till this fall. Personally, a game that still has over 6 months till release that has 30,000 preorders is doing quite well.

Surprisingly God of War is getting top billing at GameStop over Final Fantasy for our March advertising. Every GameStop hangs two giant posters at the front of the store for the biggest game dropping that month. We currently have posters for Bioshock up and before that was Mass Effect. I believe before that was either Modern Warfare or New Super Mario Bros. (I believe both, actually, though I can't recall which one was first).

Today we got in God of War posters for March, which means we won't be doing anything too big for FFXIII (aside from the inevitable midnight launch).

yeah. idiots that I work with said that there shouldn't be a midnight release for Final Fantasy XIII. Despite the fact that it's the only presell my store has actually sold out of...

This is a GameStop?  They can't sell out of reserves.  Sometimes a Colelctor's Edition or something will be cut off early, but that would be a company wide occurance and not specific to any individual store.
