Forums - Nintendo Discussion - With Wii's birthday coming up a look at its first year

Well the Wii is one week from being one year old so i thought now is a good time to reflect on the Wii's success compared to other great systems, primarily the PS2 and the DS

In its first 49 weeks in the Japanese market the Wii has kept pace with the PS2 (which coincidentally had a larger launch) and has outpaced the DS:

The NA market has been even more fantastic with the Wii running away with the crown:

Even in Europe supposedly dominated by Sony Wii has done very well, beating Sony and coming close to the DS:

So congrats to the Wii on its amazingly successful first year and to many happy returns

 DS.

DS was interesting because in its first holiday season it took off, before that point it was tailing the Wii and PS3, then it suddenly shoots up

Woohooo gooooooo Wiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!

I was going to post something big but then I realized it was almost Off Topic.

Ah well.

Actually, now that I think about it, the Playstation is a perfect example of slow and steady.

Slow and steady only wins the race when the fast and explosive decides to take a break and becomes arrogant and cocky and quits the race early.

Explanation of sig:

I am a Pakistani.....my name is Dan....how hard is that? (Don't ask about the 101...apparantely there are more of me out there....)

I don't get the reference.

@Soriku: Who cares?

@MontanaHatchet
Ever saw the cartoon with Bugs Bunny where he raced the tortoise? He was clearly winning the race, but decides to give up and not try because it was too easy so Bugs just relaxes and does nothing, but the tortoise does it slow and steady and in the end wins the race because Bugs stops trying....thats what i was hinting at.
