Just go to the datalog, then go to events.

Yeah. I don't really think FF XIII is extremely challenging like people were saying it is. It has it's really though fights. But story wise, I think XII was harder.
BTW the toughest FF in the series is FF 11. Lol.

Yeah that's the one some people were having difficulties on.
To find out what Chapter you are on just simply visit the Datalog on the Menu, it's under "Events".
Gran Pulse is also quite challenging (and huge) 
FF12 was definetely harder.
But FF13 chapter 9's boss was very hard for me & I died on Chapter 10's first boss a few times too.

I died like a bajillion times in Giruvegan in XII. That I actually stopped playing for awhile.
Does anyone know at what level the Power Circle for Snow maxes out at? Or do all weapons max at the same level?

yeah FFXII was much harder than FFXIII is, i have still had a game over a few times but only because of a stupid mistake like not watching the HP bar or something and forgetting to heal but not because it was too difficult unlike in FFXII and FFX where some bosses and even some fiends where strangely difficult.
