hey as we all know sony recently registered for a website called playstationarc.com.Also,according to numerous websites sony will launch 2 hot products by the end of year.One is the ps3 motion controller and the other is the successor of psp.

That got me thinking what if playstation arc isnt the name of the ps3 remote controller but the name of psp's successor!

I think that SONY wont use a name like psp2 or psp touch or psp something but rather something else like playstation "word" so that gamers or news sites can call sony's new portable system using just that word and not the whole name.I believe that playstation arc or just arc would be a cool name for sony's new system and maybe the arc name has something to do with the form factor of the device,as it might be an arc-slider just like sony ericsson's xperia x1 and x2.

Then of course the playstation arc could just be the name of the motion controller,since it has to do with the way light is emmited from the led-sphere,or the way playstation eye detects the light movement.

It will be called Playstation Portable 2, because we have a PSOne, Playstation2, and Playstation 3....

yes but we had ps2 and ps3 because the previous generation systems were the best selling consoles of their time,but psp isnt the best selling portable system it trails the ds 2:1.Also nintendo proved with wii and ds that they dont have to call a system 2 or 3 ,they can have success with original names

But its Sony, and going by there past history, its only logical to expect the next PSP to be called the Playstation Portable 2. Nothing proves otherwise. They didn't call them the Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 because the previous consoles were successful, it was just an executive decision to do so. I would have done the same, Xbox 2 or Gamecube 2 doesn't sound so good, But PS3 is quite catchy, so why not use it?

They don't really have a history for us to go on when it comes to handhelds though. Also, PSP2 doesn't really roll have the same ring to it as PS2 or PS3.

I think PP2 would work better for the next PSP. PSP2 is too long winded. Rather than PlayStation Portable 2, it becomes Playstation Portable 2.
