Forums - Sales - Are SE reconsidering DQX for the PS3?

It could happen. We all saw No More Heroes HD version and it looks good.

In your dreams.

And MH3 sales are just fine. Better than the previous game on PS2.

DQ is only ever released on the console selling highest in Japan and considering that the Wii is dominating the PS3 and that DQX has been in development for the Wii since 2008 it's wishful thinking at best hoping they reconsider. All this considering that DQIX is the best selling rpg in Japan's history matched by maybe Pokemon it's a tall order to hope for considering DQX will be tapping into a similarly large userbase and could become the biggest DQ game of all time considering Nintendo's president Iwata has commited to publishing and promoting it.

No, it'll stay with the Wii, the reason being is that Dragon Quest is more of a Nintendo franchise than anything, despite DQVIII being on the PS2, but every other has been on a Nintendo platform if I'm not mistaken (Please correct me if I am), and it'd be stupid for them to bring it over to the PS3, however much the fans want it. Although this generation has shown us so many ups and downs, I mean, look what happened with Final Fantasy, eh? Final Fantasy was pretty much affiliated with Playstation, much like DQ is with Nintendo, and BOOM, Microsoft come in and it's multiplatform, maybe the same with happen with DQX...

DQVII was on the PS1. There was also a DQIV remake on the PS1 and a DQV remake on the PS2.

FF was pretty much a Nintendo series until FFVI as all the games were on the NES/SNES until then. Even after there were the FF remakes on GBA and later the DS.

Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

I think SE could profit from a similiar strategy of FFXIII, they could have it exclusive to Wii in Japan cause it would sell more. But in the West, if they made it multiplat i believe they would sell more on PS3, given Wii's 3rd party woes in the west as of late.

Nintendo is promoting Dragon Quest in the west. If DQX goes multiplat, they lose Nintendo's support. Stupid move.

Not like it would happen, though.

What woes? The Wii sold a crapton of third party SW this holiday.

Also you're forgetting Nintendo pledged to advertise the game in the West. Plus they'd be making two completely different version of the game so it's pointless unlike FF XIII.

*sighs*  nevermind, i am not gonna get into it. I'll just continue to read articles of major third parties like Ubisoft refocusing on PS360, or Capcom with similiar statements. As well as Sega, EA etc. That's great that you posted npd figures and all, but that's not breaking anything down in genres, especially the hardcore types games that don't seem to sell well enough, but whatever, to each there own...

FFXIII is on track to sell 2 million units in Japan and set to do well worldwide. DQX now with the higly expanded PS3 userbase who are now actively buying third-party software, could probably sell more.

However, almost all of DQ sales come from Japan, but with MH3 (the bigest third-party games for the Wii so far) selling well below the expectations we all had (1.5 million or at least prolonged sales). Even if you think its a resounding success, its still far from what FFXIII did.

Could DQ sell more on the PS3? If it can, should SE switch even despite the higher development cost, as it will mean that their long overdue Crystal Tools is utilised more before the generation is over?

Conveniently, you don't mention that also FFXIII sold below expectations (SE's president hopes for FFVII volume of sales)

Meanwhile, Capcom praised the performance of MH3 and highlighted it as a key software to the profits posted (Q2 I think). Not to mention another 1 million copies is guaranteed with Nintendo's push in the West.

hmm imo a PSP port of DQX is possible since it wouldn't be too much work, the game won't be brought to PS3 though.

@routsounmanman - FFXIII is doing fine, its week 1 sales matched japanese lifetime sales predictions, the game will break 2 million in Japan by the end of the year.
