I am currently in the process of fixing mine... I had the same exact problem. If I succeed in fixing mine, I will inform you about it. :P

If anything, it should be Blinking Red Light of Death. It only briefly flashes yellow.
It is dead, sorry but pay 179$ and you can get a new/refurbished(I don't know which) slim
2010 Hardware Sales Predictions
Wii: 20m- Sales will drop, but not by much.
PS3: 13.5m- It sold 12m in 2009, its only common sense it will sell more this year.
Xbox 360: 11m- It sold 11m in 2008 and 2009, I think it will sell the same.
My Fanboy Speech...
Why do you have to make excuses to defend a product that you purchased, but that's the only connection you have to it, you don't make it, you don't lose or gain money on it. I don't see where all of the defensiveness comes in, there is no reason for you or anybody else to feel obligated to defend it. Now I would understand if one of you were a developer for the product and you slaved over said product only to hear somebody call it stupid or a piece of junk. But none of you developed it, none of you are mature enough to realize that. Choosing a product all comes down to preference, you chose said product because it is best for you. Simple as that!

I never understood that one myself. I guess that YLoD sounded better than "One Blinking Yellow Light, Followed By Three Beeps and Infinite Blinking Red Lights of Death."
I think the one yellow light only appears if there is a hardware failure. Fan test will also result in a blinking red light when finished until you reset the console (flip the power off).
Kantor said: I just got the same problem. Do not panic. 1) Unplug the system, and leave it unplugged. Then, plug it back in. 2) Take out the hard drive, wipe it, and put it back in. If it still doesn't work: 3) Call Sony and ask about their repairs program. If they charge you the bullshit $150 price: 4) Get it fixed by a third party. |
If you take out the hard drive and put it back in wouldn't you have to reformat it and lose everything?

Not if it's the same PS3.
I had the same problem, but I fixed mine, it's working fine now. I learned how to fix my PS3 from youtube.
yea thanks for the advice. I currently don't have the supplies to fix myself right now and there just so happens to be a snow storm in dc tonight. I will head out tommarow and attempt to fix myself. Sony is no help and its like 150 for another refurbished system. I think if I cant get it to work I will go third party to get it fixed.

Sell a man a fish you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish you just ruined a perfect business opportunity.
We didn't emerge out of the stone age because we ran out of stones. Its time to be proactive not reactive.
