Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Mass Effect 2 sells 2 million copies in week one

"announced today that Mass Effect™ 2 has sold-in over two million units worldwide in its first week of release"

I assume by using the term "sold-in" they are referring to shipped to retailers, not sold to consumers?

I would expect a higher percentage of Dragon Age's sales to be on the PC due to extra perks there. Mass Effect 2 really does not have a dominant platform, but will get PS3 & Wii owner sales on the PC side. The percentage sold on the PC should be pretty equal between both games.

its only been out for 3 days

Fallout and Tekken did the same thing, stating first week shipments. Of course, that is where the company makes money, so as long as they shipped a lot, it is all good.

This has a chance to sell over 3 million, which is amazing.

"Sold in" - i.e sold to retailers, this will represent a few weeks of stock. Week one sales will be something like 1.3-1.4m across 360 and PC.

So .3-.4 million sales on PC first week and ~1 million on 360?

So between the two platforms it did 2 million? Nice! And so well deserved IMO.

Sorry buddy, the most I am expecting PC to do in the long run is 300,000 copies at best for Mass Effect 2. The rest is 360, because a lot of PC owners already had Mass Effect 2 days before launch.

I know the pre-orders for PC were great, but that's not where PC gamers buy the most (not even close). Mass Effect 2 will sell on PC for years and years, just like any PC game. Infact, I bet that it will also sell a buttload on PC even when it's only priced at $5 (just like ME1 did).

Why does title say in 1 week when the game hasn't even been out for 1 week?
